Punta Gorda, Florida is a small incorporated city that has been listed as one of the best places to live in the US. But it is also a great travel destination. It is located at the upper end of Charlotte Harbor.
Parkhill, Inc., a very friendly resident owned 55+ mobile home community of 222 permanent homes, also has set aside 6 RV sites for our Winter visitors. The park is very stable with many long time residents. That is also true of the 6 RV sites, as the same people return annually. But, this year, we have one site that has become available. Why? Because the people bought a residence in the park. That speaks volumes for the park.
Parkhill has several park areas where you can fish from shore, have a picnic, or just sit on a swing or bench and enjoy the wildlife. It is on Alligator Creek with canals within the park. This year, we have added a kayak launch.
The lot that is available has a concrete pad, full hookups (city sewer, water, electric), picnic table and is conveniently located to in-house laundry facilities, swimming pool, game room, game areas, meeting room, and wi-fi connections. RV site occupants can receive mail Monday thru- Friday in the office. Oh, was it mentioned that the lot adjoins a brackish water canal that leads to Charlotte Harbor via Alligator Creek. And if this doesn't have your interest, check the reasonable rates. There are caveats: Parkhill is a no-pets park, an application is required, and there is a three-month minimum for this reservation.
I will also mention that there are a very few homes available in the park. If mobile home living would suit you, as mentioned above, this is a resident owned park, managed by the residents. Monthly fees are $175/mo to include city water/city sewer/lawn and grounds maintenance and use of all the common facilities including the kayak launch. There is also available boat docks and a storage area. The park now has Ethyx, a 5G Internet service available to property owners. This has proven to be an excellent service at very reasonable rates.
The I-75 interchange is approximately 3 miles from the park and the airport about 4 miles. Note, there are Saturday night car races on an oval track adjoining the airport. The Walmart and new Aldis is about 2 miles, and Publix, Home Depot and a shopping center are walking distance across the creek bridge. There is a large mall with theaters and a culture center in Port Charlotte. The Culture Center has live entertainment as-well-as variety of art and craft classes.
