Those clearance signs could be a couple of inches off if they paved since the sign was installed.

Working in a shop, I pulled the motorhome in until the highest point (a/c) was under the garage door and pulled garage door down on the unit then measured to the floor and of course I had proper tire pressure too...

I agree, I allow 6" minimum and added that to my height measurement to put on the sticker on windshield allowing for CRS !!!!

My TT is 11' high. The rule of thumb I use is if the sign shows below 11' 6", I go around. 11'6" - 12' the DW gets out and watches as I slowly creep under, 12'+, I don't worry

I don't worry if I'm 13ft 4 or 5 and the bridge says 13ft 6in. It may as well be a mile high. Any bridge that says 13ft 6in I can get under. Commercial trucks can get under the bridge I can too. If a bridge isn't marked it's at least 13ft 6in. I have a B&W hitch and I could drop it down a inch. If I was more that 13ft 6in tall and I could not drop the camper down then I would look to trade camper. I take the wrong road all the time and I'm not going to worry about being to tall. Just my two cents

One of the more definitive sources I found is the Rand McNally Deluxe Motor Carriers' Road Atlas.....lists the low clearances by state, along with much other valuable info

There is a 11ft 8in tall railroad overpass in Durham, NC that shows a RV creeping under the overpass and it cleans both a/c units off the top. But a lot of trucks and rvs have hit that overpass. Just check out 11foot8.com

Anyone thinking about using the "Low Clearance POI - GPS Data" beware that not all gps units will allow the files to be added. I have a Magellan Roadmate that customer support at RT-1 said there POI file could be added to but after purchase I find that they lied. Also be aware that without telling you it is set up as a subscription and will auto charge you each year.
