Unhappy Safety-Burglary of our tt

Last week someone broke into our windjammer and stole the TV. TT was parked at the side of our house. Never had this happen before as we always had a cover on it for the winter. Didn't have time last fall to do that. They knew exactly how to disconnect the tv from the mounting bracket. I posted a note on my Facebook page for the thief to send me their name and address and I'd send them the remote control as I didn't need it since they stole my TV. Now looking for an alarm system to put in the TT.

The trouble is the thief doesn't need the remote. He goes to Walmart and buys a universal remote and finds the remote code to enter. Some universal remotes even have a scan mode to find what it needs. A universal remote is cheaper to buy than a replacement from the manufacturer.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully your unit wasn't damaged and all they got was the TV. I have been thinking of some type of alarm also. Mostly when the unit is stored and not being used as this seems to be the most common time for thefts.

We use SimpliSafe in our home and attached one of the entry sensors to the camper door. Works great. When we hit the road, the camper sensor simply shows as out of range from our base station. When we get home with the camper it automatically goes back online.

Sorry to hear you got broken into. Back on Holloween weekend of 2016 some group of people stole my wife's handicap scooter from our driveway. I say people because that pushed it, (with the rear wheels locked up) about 40 ft to the street and then apparently lifted it into some kind of vehicle. The responding police officer said it probably was druggies looking for something they could hock quickly.

trip wire

Chamberlain CWA2000 Weatherproof Outdoor/Driveway Wireless Motion Alarm and Alert System (check amonzzon). I use these, they work, and you can run multi sensors on one receiver. Great inside coach, out buildings, perimeter, etc...

Get a good game camera. Conceal it in your unit facing the front door. You'll get good pictures of the miscreant. That can go a long way towards conviction.

Most cops know who is stealing in an area, they just can't prove it, or put the suspect at the location. A picture from a game camera will be enough proof. Don't be surprised if you ever have to show a cop a picture of someone breaking into you stuff and he is like "yeah, I know who that is"

Re: Safety-Burglary Of Our Tt

So sorry to hear of this theft!

We have an Vivint alarm system in our home. We've added 2 motion detectors and a smoke alarm to our Vengence 396 toyhauler. 1 motion detector in the garage and the other in the kitchen. Our 5th wheel is in out fenced back yard. These are blue tooted to the main alarm panel in our home.

When we travel we have to take these out of the trailer and place them in our home, our the whole alarm system will not work with them out of range.

We are thinking about adding a SimpliSafe to our trailer for full time security when we are on the road and out of the trailer.

Sorry for what happened.
They won't need the remote as it has already been traded for drugs or pawned for cash to buy drugs. There is nothing you can do to stop them. Security cameras or a good game camera will help identify the thieves when they do it.

Or, more than likely he goes to Walmart and STEALS a universal remote control.

That's about right. And they breathe the same air we do.

Just recently installed a wireless motion detector Arlo camera system with one of the cameras focused on my side yard and trailer.

Easy install, high quality video and many flexible options in the system.

The worst kind of scum that would steal the mobility from a handicapped person.

I have a Vivint system as well. Just an FYI, you can bypass those sensors so that the system will work while you're away. PM me if you want more info and I can walk you through.

This kind of thing can really knock the heck out of one's sense of security. And the boogeymen typically don't give a rat's behind what they wreck in the process. How much damage was done to the door?
