Safety Reminder

This is just a reminder for those like me who keep their RVers in storage over the winter. With the approached of camping season again don’t forget to replace the batteries in your smoke detector and your carbon monoxide (CO) detector. I have a checklist that I use for dewinterizing my fifth wheel and replacing the batteries is the first thing on the list.

Daylight Savings Time begins on March 12th this year so that would be a good time to replace the batteries in your home detectors too.

I do not leave batteries in these devices over the winter in storage. They are replaced every year with new fresh batteries. The only portable electrical items left in the camper during winter storage are the two TV's and the stereo but these are allowed to acclimatize to the weather as spring approaches. The TV's would be removed if I had a safe place to store them in my house, but I do not.

Great reminder. Thanks. I would add that those of us in climates where we camp all year should pick an easy date to annually check our alarm devices and their batteries.
