I guess the first (and so far worst) really scary event was my blowout on the Washington DC beltway just before rush hour got started. Getting the camper to the side of the road and changing the tire was as hairy as any mission I flew over Iraq. Every 18 wheeler that went by rocked the camper and I was afraid it would fall off the bottle jack.

I try very hard to tow my 5th wheel properly balanced ( 17% pin weight) and under its (and the truck's) max gross weight; so towing itself is a piece of pie.

Well here it goes. I or should I say we wife 2 kids and my mom. We were heading to Rocky fork state park in Ohio.. Printed directions off of map quest, BIG mistake. To really understand this you will have to look at a map!!! It's in south western Ohio on State route 350 look for the town of Hillsboro and follow it back east. The place is Fort Ancient, and we went through that!!! GPS kept saying to get on IN 71 but nope I said this way looks better..........NOT.. A sign about 1 mile before we got to this damn nightmare there was a sign posted inpassable by campers and large trucks.Ok now what do we do no place to turn around and boom there we were!!! And the wifey was driving.. long story.. We go down the hill a 90 deg turn back up a huge hill road wet " only passable by one vehicle" tires start to let loose" oh sh*&^%t. Keep in mind what my pin weight is around 1600 lbs the hill goes straight up black smoke roaring from the back of the tv, she gets scared, and me lets the turbo on the truck spin down, I say very gently you have to pull it down to 2nd gear and keep going, were way to far into this now to quit.Well she did and that my friend is very scary I should have maybe listen to the GPS this was our maden voyage. If you want to hear more just let me know I or should I say us was scared to death....
