We decided to get rid of our EZ-up canopy because it was difficult for even 2 people working together to walk out the legs. And it was heavy.
My bride wanted something lightweight (I did, too). And I wanted something I could set up single-handed because occasionally I'll go camping by myself with the A-frame. Looked very carefully at the Clam, and decided to go with the Coleman. The Clam was more expensive (by about $75), heavier, and has only one opening. Reviews of the Clam also said it can get hot inside under the right circumstances.
The Coleman can unzip the netting on any and all sides, and has a reasonably watertight heat release at the top center. The downside is the much slower setup (15 min single handed) of the Coleman - it's much like an umbrella tent in the pole setup. I'm not sure the Coleman netting is as sturdy in the long run, either.
In our neck of the woods, it doesn't matter what kind of tent/shelter - it has to be staked down in the winds or become a tumbleweed. Which adds to setup time regardless of type.
We don't always use a shelter, but I like to pack one.
