Radio

Possesion of screen name predates and has nothing to do with the football movie.

I have been a ham for 26 years and had a commercial 1st Class FCC Radiotelephone before that. I've worked in a place that built radio transmitters for AM or FM broadcast station, and for years I have worked for all kinds of satellite ground equipment providers.

I'd much rather play with a radio than a computer. The Rockwood 8280SS floor plan we will order in Spring of 08 has a wonderful place to set up a radio station (on a small folding table) and the space is usable for something else when not 'radio-ing'.

Besides, the truck can handle it and the wife likes the kitchen.

Well thank goodness you got named after the first one... it would be freaky chatting with someone named Santa Maria.

Mine is ancestral, I'm named after Owain Glyndowr, a welsh warrior who invaded and nearly conquored england in the middle ages. Interesting fellow and a hero to every welshman to this day. The 599 is because 1 through 598 was taken.

Hey pretty catchy though! One of these days I'm going to sweet-talk 'Wango' Rimmer into crediting me with 1.23 billion posts. Heehee, ol' Greg will be just friggin green with envy!! Or maybe that's just a bad ankle infection.

How about we have this thread to explain why you chose yours, and what it means to you?

I'll go first:
I have signed into several forums with this screen name, and here's what it means:

NDJollyMon

ND = The state in which I currently reside.
JollyMon = "Jolly Mon" is a character in a Jimmy Buffett song (of the same name) that I like. I'm a huge Buffett fan (ParrotHead) if you haven't already guessed!

The whole thing is kinda funny, cause Buffett is all about the tropics, beaches, sailing, islands, warm weather....and I live in North Dakota.
This explains my NEED to travel to the islands on a regular basis!

Now what does your's mean????
So is that Jollymon as in Daylight cum an me wanna go home.?

I love fishing (walleye mostly) and grew up on the Missouri River in Bismarck ND. Since I spent most of my free time at the river I was called the "Riverdog" but can't remember if it came from family or a friend. Anyway it just stuck so I use it on the forum and also as my Marine Radio handle when boating.

milzat ?

mil = the first 3 letters of my last name.

zat = the last 3 letters of DW's maiden name.

I chose this name because it's unusual and to lower the amount of junk Email.

It works for me.
