Screen Rooms

Anyone own a portable screen room you set up outside the RV to help with bugs, can you recommend brands and if you like yours. I have seen a few at campgrounds but never spoke to owners, interested in getting one. Thanks. If you know a better forum spot for this I will be glad to move it, had a hard time deciding what forum to put it in

We bought one off Amazon. It has been great for us. We love the size - we can fit a couple of chairs and a picnic table. We can still be outside when the bugs are but not bothered.

We have had several and the one listed below is our favorite. Easy set up, waterproof and the magnetic doors are great when you have you are in and out a lot especially with your hands full.

Got this Coleman 10'x10' for 63 bucks on a 'Lightning Deal' in July. Used it once on the deck at home for a weekend. Set up easy, put away easy. Will be taking it with us camping during the warmer months. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Have a Coleman. Four years ago it was a bit more than a hundred bucks. Keeps the no-see-ums out.

We used a couple of different EZ-ups. The problem we encountered was it really takes 4 people to set it up properly - one walking each main pole out.

In seeking an alternative, I almost went for the Clam. DW pointed out that it only has one opening, and some of the reviews said it traps heat. And it's $200+ and heavy.

Looking at the alternatives, we chose a highly-rated Coleman that uses a set of poles similar to an umbrella tent. The material is not as heavy or strong as the Clam, but all sides open, and it has a heat release vent at the peak. The Coleman is only 26lbs. Setup is about 15 min single-handed, but I can do it pretty easily myself. So far, we are satisfied.

Think very carefully about your constraints, and then get a screen room or shade that suits you. One size does not fit all. Our needs were light weight, one person setup, won't go flying off or self-destruct in a stiff breeze (like we frequently have in Colorado), easy to store in the front trunk, open entry on multiple sides. We primarily wanted shade over the picnic table - protection from bugs is not that critical in much of Colorado.

To be more concise, we bought ours while camping on St George's Island back in 07. It is 10x12 and that was the only time we used it. Other than last summer in Muskegon Mi. to stop the spoiled brats in the lot next to us from cutting through our site. They were cutting through the back part so I put the screen tent as a blockade. Did I say the tent opens on both ends...they just unzipped both sides and walked right through. I laughed so hard I could not be mad. [emoji23]

Not all campgrounds and RV parks will let you set them up...

It is considered a tent under their 'No Tent' clause...

Kills the grass and other rules they may have.

We've had our screen room for probably 12 years and it remains in nearly mint condition. No surprise as we used it one (1) long weekend and never bothered again. Took it with us several times but we no longer do that. It's in my shed. I think.

We had both a screen room and an "add-a-room" with our Coleman popup (before the Roo). Think we used them twice. Yeah, I'm a slow learner.
