Screen Tent Questions

Need a recommendation from experienced campers on what screen tent they like or use.Mostly it is just the 2 of us so it doesn't have to be huge. And floor or no floor?

Stand alone or one that attaches to an awning? And if it attaches to an awning, would it be a power (which make awning?) or manual awning?

Never thought about an awning type,I was thinking stand alone. We have a manual awning. This is our first summer with a new camper but I am used to the outdoors worked and hunted in it all my life and even tent and boat camped as a kid.My wife is warming up to it but we have had so much record setting rain in our area the mosquitoes are even hard for me to take.

I really liked the screen room that attached to our previous manual awning. It won't work with the power one on the XLR.

Here is the one we purchased. Very durable, and easy setting up. The center height is 86". Perfect for us taller people ......no overly rounded outer walls to contend with, allowing for more headroom all the way around. Perfect getaway from the elements, and bugs, relaxing in our Zero Gravity Chairs.

Here is the link:

Thanks for the replies guys,I went ahead and ordered a guide series 12x12 from gander mountain.Hope it works out they had them marked down and I had rewards so I don't have much invested if it doesn't work out.I don't think we will use one a ton but this year we have had record setting rain and woods or water it is a struggle.

Our Add-a-Room for our Roo 23SS (manual awning) was part of the deal. I didn't want to let it go, but the buyers were pretty adamant. Next trailer had a power awning - so it wouldn't work anyway.

old hunter - congrats on the purchase.

X2. We have tented for over 40 years and wrestled with many screen rooms. The Clam is the best we have ever used!

X2 on the Clam. Ours has the built-in storm flaps. We love it we use it for our dogs as a play pen.

Screen Tent Questions

This is what we use, Coleman Instant pop up shelter with screen-walls and privacy panels. It is recommended that two people set it up but I easily did it alone and I have recently had a total knee surgery. They say 3 minutes to set up, I agree with that statement for putting up the frame. But adding the material will take longer. Start to finish alone about 20 minutes to fully setup.

Just received my October issue of Trailer Life Magazine in the mail. On page 12 is an ad by Solera showing a screen room and family room attached to the awning. The type awning arms makes me think it is an electric awning. I have been wrong before, just ask my wife.

If its the one I've looked at I think you made a wise choice. If I get another one that's what it will be. Can add screen or solid panels making it very versatile. Straight legs so its a true 12 foot.

I'm on my second E-Z Up. First was a 10 footer (slanted legs so 10' is only the floor area, not the roof). Still own it for backyard parties and well constructed. Then I bought my current 12' E-Z Up as many of the parks we hit were going to longer tables and I needed the room. Again, slanted legs so you are not getting a true 12' at the roof. I paid extra for a screen enclosure which helps with bugs, but doesn't stretch all the way to the floor. Construction not as good as the 10 footer.

That's different - haven't seen this before. Says it works with other awning types as well.
