Thanks to all for the input
Good choice, that will work well. Be sure to carry adapters for the 30 and 50 amp outlets as some pedestals do not have 20 amp outlets. Also give some thought to your extension cord and a 90 degree plug.

I’m sure you will, but spend the money on a good 10 gauge chord. To heck with “less is more”, I’m a firm believer in “more is just enough” when it comes to wiring, plumbing or hvac

K2Kvin,
I did exactly as you have, and use the plug for an oil filled heater. I plug it into the 20 amp circuit at the pedestal, or during the winter, my home circuit. This keeps the TT nice and "toasty" warm.

What I did was run an entry from outside using a receptacle like K2Kevin showed, but is hardwired inside. I ran that to a breaker box with a 15 amp breaker, then to an outlet. Used 30 amp wiring inside and will use a 30 amp cable outside into the towerClick image for larger version

Why a breaker on the inside? Easy shut off in case of issues outside pedestal? Im no electrician, so very curious why.

First off I dont trust the outside breakers completely. Never know how old they are or if they work properly. For the few extra bucks to protect my investment and piece of mind it’s well worth it.

The primary function of a breaker is to provide overload protection, not provide a switch. Having your own breaker provides extra protection (as well as provide a convient switch inside in case you need it quickly.)

When plugged into a 30A or 50A outside at the pedestal the 15A inside would trip first at 15A and not be waiting for a 50A fault.
