This last campground, Frontiertown in Ocean City, MD turned out to be quite a test. I thought it was going to be easy - the site map showed we had an end site and that our row was a little longer than the one beside of it. I figured I'd pull up past it and drop back into it from the road beside. I was... how do you say it? WRONG.
Wife and I both watched as I intentionally came as close to a recycling container as possible. I say there were "inches" left. She laughed and said it wasn't even an inch. I'm pretty sure she's more right than I am on that one.
But, we got it back into the spot with 2 tries and onlookers beside and in-front of us (so much for a Thursday arrival for less of a crowd!). I got out after it was back in the spot and as we talked admitted, "Holy carp, that went well." She reminded me that I still needed to shimmy to one side about 2' and I shouldn't celebrate yet.
She's right - this is the move that I struggle with the most. Fortunately, she's a heck of a lot better at this than I am. She told me how to do it (to the right and then back to the left and back it up) and sure as snot - she (well, I) nailed it.
We got congratulations for the folks in the motorhome next to us - said they had a hard enough time with their site in just the MH. I felt like we deserved a standing ovation.

Good going. Try pulling a 53 ft AND a 28 ft trailer thru a town with traffic. I've been in places where you just scratch your head and wonder how it's going to happen. It all works out in the wash so to speak.

I'm all alone in the room and LITERALLY laughing out loud!
We call each other on the phone - either speakerphone or the car's bluetooth system.

Well that "phat kid" is simply paying the price for being connected to you

Don't blame the "phat" kid for being 'connected' to him, blame him for even knowing anyone that does know him without being 'connected'. We should send him a sympathy card.

Suppose we should also take up a collection to help pay for the shrinks?

My wife CAN NOT HELP, she just doesn't get it!!' I had tapioca pudding when I was young and love it, ask kids now and they look at me like I was speaking in a foreign language.
I get nervous going to new CG, that is why I reserve a year in advance if possible and get PT sites if possible. It's usually a good show for the neighbors when I arrive, hate how they sit there and stare!!! Hahaha. One time last year my DW had to keep me from going out and asking some kids what was so funny, they were obviously laughing at me, pointing and all. I'm not really that childish, but rather embarrassed and didn't need the extra attention, worst spot in the park, it was a bear!!

Funny how when I'm alone hooking up or parking, I can do it fine. But when I have someone "guiding" me in. Takes several tries. Funny how that works. But going from 30 feet to 37 feet sure makes a difference!

i'm kinda the opposite, i can't wait to back up. i consider it a fun challenge that i'm sure i can win. i'm always confident i can get in the site and i've had some challenging ones, especially in our redwood parks out here.
my secret confession, actually ours, is that when we pull into a campground, we choose a site as far as possible from any that have kids' bikes/stuff in them.
we love kids but not when we're camping. that's a big reason we choose not to camp in the summer. camping is a wonderful activity for families and since summer is the usual time for them, we want them to enjoy the experience.
we camp when they're back in school and living in California, that means 9 months of camping.

I like backing also, just have to get used to backing my 5er, vs my bumper pulls from the past.
