See anything odd this holiday weekend?

The only thing we saw that was strange this weekend was the TT pulling a trailer with a golf cart on it. It wasn't really odd until I noticed how the hitch was setup on the TT:

Lets get a closer look at that:

That is a bolt on hitch to the TT rear bumper pulling a 5x8 trailer with an electric golf cart on it. I initially walked over to check out his hitch setup, but after seeing that decided not to use any of his design ideas

And someone might get lucky and get a bumper, slinky, spare tire, utility trailer and golf cart for free. Hopefully not in the front of their vehicle, but left along the side of the road.

All too common in Louisiana. Some with worse configurations than that. Have seen some with the back bumper already sagging or breaking off, and they're still pulling the trailer and cart. All you can do is suggest things, but most around where I'm referring to aren't very receptive. So, best thing, just don't follow them.

Is that even legal? Can you tow a trailer towing a trailer? Is that not a tandem trailer? How the freak do you back that up? I can barely handle backing up one trailer let alone figuring out how to back up two of them.

I have that utility trailer; got it at Tractor Supply. It has a 2000 lb limit.

The receiver: Amazon.com: Curt Manufacturing 19100 Travel Trailer Bumper Mount Hitch 4 In Square Bumper: Curt: Automotive
Funny, one of the questions is:
Q: can this be used to pull a 5x10 utlity tralier with a golf cart loaded on it????
The reply:
The hitch itself will hold no problem. Just make sure it's mounted to something substantial.
The hitch is rated to 3500 lbs, 350 lbs tongue.
But that bumper does not look substantial enough to hold it but who knows.

Again we draw conclusions from a picture.. All that I can see is a receiver attached to a bumper with a trailer in tow. . What I cannot see, is how the bumper is attached to the frame, which may make all the difference. However, I also question the legality of trailer towing a trailer. Certainly not acceptable in my little corner of the globe.

In TN it is legal to "triple tow" with a total length limit of 65'.

It is always the fine print that messes people up. "mounted to something substantial". Hahaha.

I don't think that is legal in Va, if it was I have enough problems keep check on my Windjammer, must less having something behind it. I guess you would need a pull through site. Way toooo much for me to handle. I would like to watch him setting up though.

So that's what those new breakaway hitches look like!

I think this site is in error for California they allow triple towing with a CDL restricted license. My dad did it for many years until he moved to Oregon.
last test I took still had it in their booklet.

Notice (if that's actually the "in tow position") that the golf cart is back behind the axel. Bet that was a amusing rig to watch while in motion....watch from FAR away.

And he's obviously over length for that camp site.

I've never actually observed anyone backing what I call "double towing". That's gotta be a witch to maneuver.

LA allows this sort of towing, and I see the "double tow" UPS trucks hauling down the interstate almost daily.

Did see one of these:

on an interstate overpass about 30 miles west of us. I'd be claustrophobic under there! :eep:

Why do some people think this guy has to back into a spot with the trailer still hitched to the RV?

He probably hooks the trailer to the RV after the RV is hooked to the TV and vice versa if he has to back into a spot.

The trailer is probably light enough to handle by hand and the cycle is probably loaded after the trailer is hooked and vice versa before the trailer is unhooked.

Don't make it harder than it has to be.

Sorry - I should of said golf cart instead of cycle. Same logic still applies.

You are exactly right....

My big question would be why he is connected to power and not water?
