CHL holder , Lifetime NRA member. It goes with me when we travel. I have an obligation (and right) to protect my family and these days you never know when something crazy might go down.
My 3 generations of guns are kept in a fire proof safe. My two grandsons have been going to the range with me for years and can handle a gun safely but I still remove my bedside weapon when and lock it up when they are visiting as they are now.
If we are going to go exploring while camping I break my gun down and hide the 2 pieces and the clips in separate locked places. I can enjoy my adventure with no worries of somebody stealing my weapon and doing harm to anyone.
I have no pity for irresponsible gun owners or CHL holders that get themselves in trouble.
We have a saying down here in Texas , "I'd rather be judged by 12 (Texans) than carried by 6"

Need to give credit to Rolling buckeye for this:
I do agree, that when camping at state, national, or privately owned facility,,99.9% of the time, there is no need,b safe, and have fun, and whenever possible , look out for each other !! When the good stand together, the bad have no chance!!

Sorry can't figure out how to put quotes in box....

Click the 'quote' button on the post that you want to 'quote'. If there is a part of the 'quote' that you want to leave out.... high light it and delete it when the reply box comes up.

Ok, the topic has trailed from a discussion of guns as they pertain to RVing and has ventured into gun rights and this has fallen out of bounds for the Community Rules.

It's time to put this thread to bed.
