Self Defense
Hello Folks
Was interested to read what peeps have done or do for Self Defense while camping. Like do you take a firearm, bat, dog, etc...........
Seems that KOA's and such are for the most part safer then say public parks etc.............. ( assumption here )
While the potential threat of a an assault, burglary, etc............ is all over the US and will not go away ................. In this context what if any precautions do you take..............
Thanks
Avan

While I do CCW, the most important thing I do to ensure our safety is be aware of our surroundings at all times and avoid undesirable areas.

Never bring a stick or knife or dog or bear spray to a gun fight

I conceal carry a Springfield XDS 9mm... I have a case I can secure in the weapon in and then secure the case to the camper or vehicle. I do this for many of the places I go. We also have 2 dogs, one would attack you for attention while the other will bark and cower while peeing himself...

I'm going to just throw out there that this discussion is only allowed within the context and specifically about RV'ing. This topic comes up every few months and inevitably falls out of bounds of the rules and people get upset and badness happens. Please take a moment to refamiliarize yourselves regarding the rules on gun topics.
Thanks in advance.

I have been camping now for decades, most of the time was in a tent, and I have never had to worry about self defense other than raccoons (I use a sling shot for them )

Deadbolt in our main entry door and a beagle that barks loud enough to be heard for miles. We sleep soundly.

Been camping over 30 years never felt threatened, never had an issue, or know of any of our camping friends that have had any issues. Rarely lock our doors but do have two Boxers but not for that reason.
Having said that do realize that it can happen but more likely when on the road not as likely in the campground other than teens looking for beer in coolers..

never worry about self defense because we camp mostly at private campgrounds, when we do the SP we lock everything , my hands are my weapons, and they are pretty quick and rarely let me down.. no match of a gun but if you are close I will take it from you

Web folks - I like the warning!
That said, this has been discussed a number of times on the forum. Often with the result of deleted entries.
A quick search will find most of the entries. Start with the term wasp spray.
All I'm going to say.

I really do not see why this is such a touchy topic? Ultimately protecting ourselves and our property while out looking to enjoy ourselves shouldn't be such a hush hush topic. If someone wants to use method A while legally permitted to do so, or method B of do nothing but watch it is their choice.
While I am out on vacation having a good time with my family IS NOT the time to bother me!
Typically my method of defense is tossing the perp a beer from the fridge though... not many other methods are legal while intoxicated! So I dare you ALL TO BRING IT ON!

When it's Justus girls out camping, we bring the "equalizer" and I'm not talking about a hitch.
