Selling a 5th Wheel RV

What are your thoughts about using a consignment place to sell my one year old Cardinal? (health issues) I have heard of a large company in TX that only does consignment but that is quite a ways from where I am currently located.

As long as I got the price I wanted after the fees, why not? I've always thought a consignment place was a good idea due to volume of customers but I have always had good luck on CL (craigslist) with vehicles. I have sold 5 vehicles altogether and they were all sold at the price I wanted in less then 2 weeks. I have never tried to sell and 5th wheel or TT though. Good luck!

Check some of the dealers around you to see if they would do a consignment sale for you. I'll bet they would but of course they will always sell their own inventory before yours. A trip to Texas may not work out for you. PPL has several locations in TX and sellers seem to be satisfied with their business style. They also certainly get the traffic. They don't sell any new RV's and so they don't have any dog in the fight. Also they are familiar with paperwork so it could be an easy transaction. Saying that, you might try to sell it yourself first, like Craigslist or RV Trader or even on this forum. If you don't see action within a reasonable time then you might consider PPL.

We are also going into the down season. Buyers aren't so apt to buy now and pay for something to sit until spring so any potential buyers will probably try to beat you up. You may have to bite the bullet and wait until about March or April to move it.

I just recently purchased a used 5th wheel off of craigslist. I searched high and low (RV trader, dealers, etc) but I was always drawn back to craigslist for amount of inventory available, location, and price. I know it is not for everyone but I am very happy with the 5th wheel I obtained for sure.

Spring is a good time to sell a RV but there's snowbirds looking to head south with an upgraded RV.

You should also post the info on here, never know who might be interested. Cardinal is a great brand, we have a 2005 33LX and love it.

I sold my silverback at PPL, quick, and for a LOT more money than trade. Got what I wanted for it and it was too easy.

At least in Heaven, RVs will be perfect, and I won't have to keep fixing them.

Unless your health issues are terminal or will preclude you from ever traveling again you might be better off winterizing it and leave it parked until your aituation changes for the better. I had to let mine sit for over a year because of several things that happened. Glad I did.

Texas sales have been brisk for the past 7 Winters we have spent there. We go to the Valley but have heard of good sales throughout South Texas.
