Hello again. So I bought a digital satellite finder to help expedite setting up my dish when we camp (yes...roughing it). So I hook up the device in my home to a known good dish and receiver. Nothing...
The device shows 0% signal. Yes it is hooked properly. Yes I know the dish is set correctly. Yes I know my receiver works. It's DIRECTV in case that matters. Any ideas???
Thank you in advance...

Yeah- throw it away. Don't mean to be rude. I hope you didn't pay a lot for it. I have a cheap one I bought for about twelve bucks, but after about 2 times using it, I found I didn't need it anymore. Once you get the general direction as where to point the dish, it's pretty easy to hit the 101 satellite. That's the one you're looking for for DirecTV.

Hello,

Some satellite finders require DC from the receiver to work. What brand is it?

SF-95DR digital satellite finder-that's what it says on the thread starter.

Is the receiver looped through the SF 95DR?

A level and a compass is all you need. It doesn't hurt to have a good smartphone app like DishPointer AR Pro if you are going to be looking for small holes through tree canopies, but if you have a clear view of the sky, all you need is a level and a compass and you will find the satellites in minutes.

This is assuming you know where you are and you can obtain the correct azimuth and elevation information.

Could be defective or may not work with some LNBs (e.g., my meter cannot detect SWM on Directv, but can detect older LNB).

I tried deleting my post but couldn't figure out how. Thanks for the replies but I got it figured out. There was a thumb dial switch on the side and when I turned it up I got my scale and tone. But...I was reading another thread that said the old style DIRECTV standard def dishes won't work on the newer receivers. Anyone have info on that?

If you have a smart phone you already own the best satellite finder. Download the free app "Dish Align", it works with all satellites. We have DISH Network and the app "DISH for my RV" is specifically for DISH.
FYI, with both DISH and Direct you can call and have your local channels switched to the zip you are located in. Don't do it if you have anyone back home because then they won't be able to get local channels.

Satellite finder

I use aiPad app SatFinder Lite very successfully. It shows all satellites on the horizon. Pick your satellite aim your dish. Use it prior to pulling into campsite so as to park with less treason line of site,
