As a Military Brat for the first 17 years of my life (Born at Ft. Lewis, WA - now JBLM), the military was an integral part of my life. Memorial Day was spent watching the capabilities of whatever Post we were stationed. With my father (God rest his soul) being Armor, tanks were the big thing (no pun intended) most of the time. We were hardly ever close to where my parents were from (N.Central IL) to spend it with family.
While I never actually served in the Armed Forces, I like to think I was a supporting member. I know the one year my father spent without his family was very hard on him. So, I knew traveling all over the U.S. and to Germany meant a lot to him.
Thank You to every one of you who have served our Great Nation. I salute you every day with the spare tire cover on my Jeep Liberty, which is my avatar.
