Have just purchased a Forest River SHASTA Travel Trailer 2011 and would like to know if UV treatment is a nessasary on new aluminum siding? We are a first time buyer of a new travel trailer.

Congratulations on your new Shasta! We just purchased a 2011 shasta as well (30ckbh)! You are the first person I have seen on FRF with a Shasta. I did not get the UV protection.

Thanks for your reply and hope you enjoy your Shasta too. You saved yourself $1,400.00 for UV protection that is not necessary to be put on the Shasta's. Another person wrote back to me saying it's a scam for the dealership to make extra profit. I think the only thing that was put on our unit would have been scotchgaurd on the cushions. The dealership would not even give me a name of the product they put on. Oh well live and learn. Did you get a TV with yours? We were told by the sales rep that yes one would be included and installed with the unit. Since this was not in writing the Manager of Paradise RV in Alberta said it was not included and the sales rep did not say that. First time buyer for a trailer but have learned lots. Love our unit

Ours did not come with a tv. They were up front with me on that. The idea was that most folks like to upgrade to a better tv thats usually offered by manufacturing. Plus the revere has a space big enough for a 46" in the living room! I did install a mount in the living room and in the bedroon for flat screen tvs. We take the tvs that we use in our house in the bedrooms until we can afford to outfit with new tvs.... here is a link to a good website for tv mounts with good prices.
Wall Mount Brackets

The one thing I wish I would have negotiated is an electric tongue jack. I live in florida so setting up the weight distribution hitch in the summer time requires extra t-shirts and deoderant!

A good coat of Nu-Finish (not a wax) will help protect it against the enviroment and keep itrom chaulking. Once a year

a lot of us get our electric tongue jacks from Ebay. remanufactured units cost as little as $70 and it takes about 30 minutes to install one.
i've had my UF 3500 for over 3 years now and no problems.

No trouble with the Shasta only the dealership. It's easy to tow but sways a bit on the highway when there is wind. Really enjoy camping in it with my husband and 3 mastiff dogs. Lots of room.

We have a Sheltie and a Chihuahua. That's the main reason we got the TT, don't like traveling without them
Do you have a weight distribution hitch and anti sway?
We got the Reese dual cam WD/anti sway. Getting it installed tomorrow. I hope this is going to help.

New Shasta 27Bh owner. I sold my Coachmen Catalina 20RD. It was too small for us. Love the new Shasta, big and roomy.
