Took the 8 hour ride out to Lake Shore RV in Muskegon Michigan on Friday and pulled our new toy hauler home yesterday. I may have went a little big for my first trailer, lol, but with all the research and help I received on this forum it was a smooth ride home. The Duramax pulled the trailer with ease and the exhaust brake is incredible in bringing it all to a stop. Thanks to everyone that answered my questions and pointed me towards the Equalizer hitch.

Love my Duramax. Had a 6.2L Yukon Denali XLR previously. It did okay, but as we planned for a 5er, we decided to get the truck with Duramax. Can't even tell there is a trailer behind you. Wouldn't go back.

First camp will be Memorial weekend for the first BBQ competition of the season in Rochester NY. First "real" trip we have planned is July 4th to Lake Placid and the area for a week. I'm sure we'll do a couple local trips before that though.

The Duramax is incredible. I ran about 70 MPH all the way to Michigan and got 19 MPG, still had a quarter tank left after 500 miles. The mileage on the way back with the trailer was about 11 MPG. The truck still ran 67 MPH at 1500 RPMs, like it wasn't even trying, but the extra 9,000 lbs and huge wind drag kill the mileage. I am more impressed by that exhaust brake than the towing power though. It slows the entire set up without having to barely use any truck or trailer brakes.

Congrats on your new travel trailer. We are considering an eight hour drive to Lakeshore RV to save $4000. I was just curious about your buying experience at Lakeshore. Did they spend ample time during the walk-through? Did you have anything that needed resolving? Any feedback is appreciated.

We are actually selling our toy hauler in favor of a more traditional tt.

congrats, that is a beautiful rig,....... highly recommended that you add an awning cover over the slidout,...... many things can end up on top of your slideout(pine cones, sticks, leaves, ect) without you knowing its up there,...... our tt didn't come with one either, and until I added it, every time before leaving a campground I would climb the ladder w/a broom to clean off the top of the slideout,....... that's just something to think about, but you sure don't want to bring in the slideout with anything up there...........

Very nice looking trailer and I agree with fella10, about adding the awning covers over slideouts. Our Jayco motor home didn't have one and brought inside all sorts of crap. On the new 5'er, we had them installed.

I wish they would make the slideout corners soft, I bump my head everytime they are out.

So far it's exceeded my expectations. Everything works, no leaks, no strange issues with any of the components. Only thing I have found is the wood trim on the edges of the slide room are coming loose at the top. Looks like the factory put about 10 staples in each and they are still pulling away. Nothing critical, I'll wait to the winter and take it in as warranty work.

My real name is Dan, lol, Polish Don is a nickname I was given for my Polish\Sicilian heritage.

We have competed twice so far, and have 3 more to do. Next one is next weekend, at a local casino. I will be staying an extra night to enjoy the games of chance and sleep in the camper since it will be there in the lot.

Any more comps for you?

Awesome. Thanks Dan. Since I'm in Louisiana it's slow here in summer but picks up in Sept through Nov. I will do at least 3 more maybe 5 more. Two I had planned on have been canceled so I'm filling slots.
