Short cold spell ?

The forecast for morning low on Satuday is in the upper 20's. I haven't winterized yet (may take one more trip) so I'm concerned about the water. I do have the blow out attachment so can I just blow out the lines quickly and that would be good with this short cold spell?

There is a few gallons of water in the black do I need to be concerned about that?

I wouldn't expect it to freeze up in a few hours with temperatures in the high 20's.

If you want to be extra cautious, turn on the tank heaters (if you have them) and a little heat with an electric heater, or the furnace at the minimum temperature setting.

As Dave said, its not really a problem to dip below freezing for a few hours.

The black tank will be fine even if it did freeze. The problem is the expansion of frozen water and so a few gallons in a large tank won't harm anything within the tank.

The lines are where the most problems can occur, and even then Pex has a tendency to flex somewhat. If it helps alleviate concerns, open the low drain valves and the faucets to drain most of the water in the lines. Or as you said, blow them out.

Overnight below freezing should not be a problem. If, however, the forecast is for a second night that cold I would bite the bullet and winterize.

Unless it's going to be 60 or 70 during the day .

I don't get in a pucker till the day time temp starts to only reach the 50's as highs and below 30 at night.

Thanks everyone. I turned the pump on and the kitchen faucet to run the line/pump out. I also found the hot/cold low spots and drained those lines and open the valve on the water heater to drain that.

I should be set for a few weeks anyway. Thanks again.
