Should I Be Happy With Torflex Axles?

Before owning my 2016 Windjammer 3029W I never had the Torflex axles -- always had leaf springs with no shocks. I have towed my Windjammer several hundred miles and I think the way it rides is great, but I don't know if I can attribute that to the Torflex axles or to my Husky Center Line TS weight distribution system, which is new to me, also.

What is the general consensus of the Torflex axle system? Is it an upgrade to what I have previously had or is it just fluff?

Bruce

My opinion would be the Torflex axles are big improvement in ride quality over leaf springs. We can leave things on the nightstand and they are still in place after traveling the same roads that used cause everything to be thrown all over the old camper with leaf springs..

Certainly is a better ride. Airstream has used rubber torsion axles for decades. I don't know if they still use them as Henschen (formerly owned by Airstream) was sold to a foreign company some years back and I believe they closed that plant. It's been a while since I've been there. I used to be involved with the purchase of those axles for a manufacturer of AG equipment. We used them because they were maintenance free (except for wheel bearings) in a corrosive atmosphere. You don't have any spring shackles and bolts to keep lubricated and free of rust. They give a stiffer ride and less bouncing. I would assume it helps when parked to have less movement when walking around inside an RV also.
