Should I winterize?

We are going camping in two weeks, however between now and then the forecast is calling for highs in the 40's with an occasional freeze around 30.

Should I go ahead and winterize the TT?

Thanks,

Randy

if its only going to be below freezing for a couple hours a night, not likely to freeze. Blowing it out or just draining from the low point drains might not be a bad idea

Ok. I normally leave my low points open unless we are camping (not sure if that's a best practice).

Thanks

We live in N. Louisiana and I just talked to a RV business about what they do with the campers out in the lot during winter. They said they just drain all the water and make sure and pull the anode rod out of hot water heater to drain it and then just put a cup or two of RV antifreeze in just your drains.
And maybe if it gets into the 20's go ahead and put a heater in it at night.

At $4 a gallon I never risk it. It takes me les than 15 minutes.

Walmart has it for under $3 per gallon. Plus..it would be helpful if you told us what kind of unit you have.

First as many say antifreeze is cheap, taking precautions and always prepare for the worst and you will never be caught with your drawers down.. But you must know about your camper and know insulation factors and where your water lines are, what type you have, most have pex lines. I know exactly where my water lines run and found all openings where lines come in to camper, low points, bypasses, in my FR Flagstaff V Lite water lines are run in a channel in the floor within the aluminum floor frame in insulation with a quarter inch ply on bottom and the chloroplast plastic for underbelly that is covered. Only exposed pipes are the low point, shower outside and dump valves. I have heated tanks and elbows. These are just a few things you need to know. If your storing it for the winter or are you just preparing for freezing temps at night or a weather event that is not going to last long before you are above freezing again and you have the inside of camper heated. Hope this helps a little....

As long as the temp doesn't stay below freezing for an extended period of time and in the day time you get above freezing you should be okay, That's up to you. If you have tank heaters you should be fine. Check accu weather hour by hour report and see how long it will be below 32. Open your cabinet doors that have plumbing in them and run a space heater. If not, either blow the lines out, or add the pink. Better safe then sorry.

I appreciate everyone's advice. I did go ahead and winterize the trailer. The forecast changed and with 24 degrees, I was not going to take the gamble.
