I was always told this foolproof way to tell what type of bear is chasing you:

If you run, climb up a tree and the bear climbs up after you, it's a black bear.
If you run, climb up a tree and the bear shakes you down from the tree, it's a brown bear.
If you run and there are no trees to climb, it's a polar bear.
If you run and score a touchdown, it's a Chicago bear.

Ain't Much But It's Ours

If all the other National Parks can have signs bragging about their elevations, the Everglades National Park can, too.

At least one surveyor had a sense of humor.

At least one surveyor had a sense of humor.
Thank goodness that they were able to locate the pass so that the early explorers didn't have to scale the five- and six-foot peaks to get through the area!

We have them in Jersey. Usually within a mile from the state prisons.

There were these "Don't Pick Up Hitchhiker" signs along the roads near Stateville Prison a large federal prison near Joliet Il. Really..... makes ya wonder. I remember them from back when I was in High School.

In beautiful downtown Herculaneum, MO.

(I can only figure there is a hell of a lot of abandoned cars at the end of this road)

Cowracer, Your comment only adds to the "funniness" of these two signs. Then, I should have expected such from someone with the name "Cowracer"!

Harder to kidnap, but easy to find in Cheltenham, UK. We drove by a couple years ago while touring the area.
