Skylight

Anyone seen a blackout shade for the skylight in the sunseeker24s thought it might be a good option. I like the skylight but it would be nice to be able to block.for early sunrise.

If you put skylight in the search box you'll find what some people have done. I like our skylight but in the summer it does help build up heat in the bathroom. DW made a cover from insulated fabric that is held in place with velcro several places around the perimeter of the skylight frame. It works well. In retrospect I wish she would've used some reflectix on the backside of the insulated fabric.

In the regular vents, I used some of the aluminized bubble-wrap insulation stuff and cut it to size to fit in the openings, These are about 13.5 x 13.5 inches. These block light and add a thermal barrier to the vents

As for the skylight, I went up on the roof with a can of white spray pait and painted the plastic skylight. It still lets in some light, but is perfect for the mornings when sleeping in, AND it was a major improvement when attempting to keep the inside of the MH cool when its 115deg F outside.

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.

I have posted on this before and have provided pictures of my fix in the thread on skylights.
I purchased a 2'x4'x3/16" thick piece of white foam core board from Hobby Lobby, less than $3.00. Cut this to size and retain in place with plastic screen retainers that are sold in a hardware store. Using the skylight trim screws that are already in place to hold the retainers in place. The cover can be removed when not needed and simply placed back in when required. Simply, easy to use and cheap.

I painted the outside of ours white, let's in a nice soft light while greatly reducing the heat load.
