Sleep on Slide while in?? on Rockwood Roo 21RS

We are planning a three week trip to California and expect that we will be doing the first part of our adventure in very cold weather. We wondered whether we could sleep on the slide while it is still inside the trailer??? We likely will do quick "truckstop" overnights with no running water or electricity, only using the furnace sparingly.

Would there be any risk to using the bed in this fashion??? Thanks. This tt is new to us, but we have a fairly rich history of motorhomes and othe travel trailer adventures. We are super excited about this roadtrip.

I was told during the PDI to not even sit in the slide when it is in because the bottom edge of the slide is not supported and could break.

I have run the slide out for an overnight stay without issue, just be sure to park in such a manor that no one can run into the slide when it is out.

Had no idea about not sleeping with the slide in! We have a 5er and on long trips always sleep on the bed with the slide in. We still have bathroom access and don't take up room in truck stops that others could use. So far no issues at all. Guess we're fortunate!

Different slide mechanisms have different rules. In my camper, I can do jumping jacks on one slide, but mustn't be on another.

Hmmmmm. I have been sitting on it while it was closed all the time but never checked. We will stop at truck stops an eat at the table while taking a break all the time. Maybe I should check the mechanics and make sure it's good.

The inside edge of our slide rises about two inches when it is retracted, I cut some wedges too fit underneath to support the raised edge, one at each end and about every two feet in between. I think it supports it enough to prevent end damage when stepped on !! Don't forget to remove them before extending the slide.
