Slides open or closed when TT is on driveway

Being new to the TT world i have a question.... Is it better once my TT is home to retract the slides (i open them when i get home from a trip to clean the TT) or keep them open? I have slide toppers. I am camping every other weekend so the TT is not stored on my driveway with the slides open for long periods of time. Thanks for your comments.

It's a matter of personal preference. Either way is ok.

I don't have a TT but my logic has alway been to run the slides as little as possible.

So if you run them out when you get home I'd just leave them out till I was ready to leave again. Might want to load or clean on it while it setting there. No reason to run them in and out several times. Just my thoughts.

Since we have to use a storage lot we clean the camper at the campground then run the slides in and leave them in. If I could park it at home I would probably leave them out since stepping on the slide floor and damaging it is a real possibility.

I leave mine out due to the layout of the trailer. The motors are HD so as long as you are not stopping and starting or running with the last gear at the end of the rack, I think it would be a tough chore to burn them out. Not to mention easier access for cleaning and maintenance.

Used to leave them out all the time when at home.
Then got to thinking...
No reason to leave the slide out toppers constantly exposed to sunlight/heat/uv when not necessary. Yes, I do treat them regularly with 303, but still why subject them to "extra" ware.
Also, when real hot/humid, I'll run the ac. Closing the slides cuts down on cubic footage the ac has to cool down. Have the foil/bubble insulation covering all the windows while at home, and that helps alot, but closing the slides also helps.

Your preference, but I open our slides out about a week before our trip and then leave them open for about a week when we get home from our trip. I usually do a pre-trip and post trip inspection of everything from top to bottom before we leave and when we get home.

It's your call. Either way is fine. If you leave them out I would be sure to treat your seals with something like 303 to keep the sun from drying them out.

My covered pad id next to my house so I just leave them out. This way I can just unlock the doors to clean or do mods.

I ask the same question when I picked it up new in 08, same answer everyone else is giving you, your choice, I leave my unit park at our camp resort and the slide has gone in only to move the unit one or two times a year. So my super slide is out 99% of the time and it is just as strong as the day I picked it up. It will not hurt anything to leave it out or put it back in...
We use it all year.
