Wasn't while camping, but on old MH had to take into repair shop for emissions test, employee was guiding me in but he didn't look up to see if roof AC would clear shop door. It didn't !!! They paid to fix since their guy was guiding .

Hauling through NB Canada which is up both ways, with cross winds blowing from each side at the same time and snowing in May (last Saturday actually) is ~ 9 to 11 miles per gallon.
Hauling to the bottom of Maine (to head for the Nascar races in NH) it appears to be almost level or down hill for the most part and we get 13 to 15 depending on the gas we use. Shell supreme has given us the best mileage.
I installed an Arriad cold air intake system on the 2013 Ecoboost and a JBA performance exhaust. Switched the P rated tires to LT's and with the air deflector on I see about a 1 mile difference. High sped balanced teh trailer tires as well
Without the trailer on and running winter tires with studs the truck is getting an average of 22 miles per gallon on the highway at 65 miles an hour.
if DW is driving she gets more mileage for some reason without the trailer - she wont haul the trailer
PERIOD!

First mishap, first day....
My husband went up and picked up our XLR and when he got home he was turning in the barn lot, hit some sort of farm equipment and poked a hole in the brand new camper....it wasn't anywhere serious so I just kind of shrugged my shoulders.
Then, the next time we took it out he scraped a fence post leaving the barn lot. Needless to say, the barn lot entrance has been enlarged.

x2. Being payment free and striving to keep it that way...Yes! Newest and latest Model is not always better!
I love seeing those older TT's come into the CG. A lot of "character" going down the road back in the day. Makes for great conversation starters too.

Three most important words in RVing - spotter, spotter, spotter. We never backed firetrucks into the station without a spotter and these were "professional" drivers. Lesson Learned.

Forget to mention. Our second trip out this season we seen a 5er with the left front corner ( drivers side ) all covered in Gray Duct tape. OUCH! Yep, it truly does work on everything!
Although, White duct tape would have not been so noticeable. OUCH, again!

Last week tried to take off the corner piece of garage roof. No harm to the roof, three grand to the trailer.

Wow, I guess none of us are perfect. These are great stories to tell around the campfire. I know each one of us has felt that "oh no" feeling done in your gut. May we all learn from each other.

Was at CW in Goodyear AZ and a guy pulled up in a Ford dually. You could see where the 5er fell on the bed.-----..--

I discovered the 5ver would clear the cab on my shortbed f-150 without pushing the slider back.
Then I discovered the 5ver would NOTclear the cab on my shortbed f-150 without pushing the slider back.
The difference being whether or not the campsite/driveway was uphill relative to the road. Still have the dent as a monument to my complacency.

I forgot to release the slider on my hitch, short Bed f250. Backing into my driveway the corner of the 5er shattered my rear window. Oooops...I hope that is the last time I forget to release the slider.

I didn't forget. I knowingly backed up without moving the hitch because it cleared once moving forward on very level ground.
By Grace I didn't loose a window. I heard it and looked around, stopping just in time.

So looking at stuff. the truck at CW had the 5er fall on it right? And it fell because they did not lower the landing gear right?
Look at post #31 if this is confusing.

Dropping 5er on bed more likely landing gear issue, or blocks under landing gear and no chocks behind tires and it fell off the blocks.
The cab clearance issue on mine, truck was on incline, 5er was fairly level and I was turning to the right.

This was not a test. I don't know squat about 5er's. But the more i learn about any type of trailer's the more i can pass on to someone that may have a question.
