After 2 angry arrivals at camp sites- my wife and I swapped roles.
We quickly discovered she gives lousy directions- "look out, move over, turn".
My angry response was "WHICH WAY???".

So we swapped roles and she drives and I walk behind and watch and give directions.
We found she is the perfect human voice activated remote control!!
I tell her exactly what to do-- "left a little, back to center, right a lot, stop!"
This may be the only time she does EXACTLY what I tell her to do!!
It works great- we aren't mad at each other just when we should be celebrating our
arrival at a new camping spot and we can park our rig in the shed at home within
2 inches of the wall so we can open the door on the other side every time!

I have found that the sneakiest things waiting to damage my truck are the posts near the campsite entrance. Backing in; my wife in back of the trailer with the walkie talkie; cutting the front of the truck to get the trailer placed; looking back to see where the trailer is going.

These poles have high potential for getting you. Can't even see them from the driver's seat. Always a good idea to scout them out before backing in.

An ounce of prevention is worth $1000 of cure. I was hooking up the trailer on my 1/2 ton and after setting up the sway bars I forgot to retract the jack stand in a driving rain. It bent the plate on the hitch about 10 degrees. After catch a lot of grief from my camping friends I lowered the stand and backed it up and straightened it. None of us are perfect.

Ok I'll give you just one of my mistakes...or was it my wife's!!!! I was backing into my driveway, with the DW guiding me. I told her to stop me about a foot from the house. So she walks out of my mirror and I say to myself, self just keep backing as she'll show up and stop me.....well she didn't. I was backing slowly and looking in my mirror when I see the end of her cane going up and down. So I say to myself, self maybe I should stop..which I did...after I had squished the eavestrough. It's even better when she has the radio and I can see her yelling at it....but.......the ptt button isn't pressed. That's it. I now have to go pick her up at the hair dresser's where I will be the gentile man that I are. Stay safe all.

I had a small cab-to-5er clearance issue on the way home from Daytona. Backing out of a truck stop parking space in the dark. I was lucky that it only put a small dent in the cab, did nothing to the camper, and didn't break the window.

I wind up doing most of the "camper stuff" alone, including pulling it out and backing it back in. I'm a firm believer in the trucker's GOAL method...Get Out And Look. I may do it 3 or 4 times until I have the camper where I want it.

Seems every time I go to a State Park some old duff comes dragging in a 1970's era Terry Resort TT (or some such) towing with a pickup of about the same vintage. The equipment shows it's age. Every dent, ding, scrape and even some of the dirt likely holds a memory.

Invariably there are 6 grandkids. This is probably the same camper he took their parents camping with, back in the day when truck and trailer were shiny and new.

They seem to be having more fun than the folks in the newer, better rigs.

Definitely seen this before. The kids all have bikes and scream their lungs out!

I love my DW but giving backup directions is not in her skill set. Many times I have no idea what her hand signals mean, or what that worried look means when she's behind the camper giving no directions. So like TW, I get out several times and look at the angles, then give her one thing to look at like a tree I can't see.

First trip with new MH, I opened rear storage door, hinged to hang down and forgot. Then moved forward a few feet. Forgot about the concrete parking stop rear tires were against. It was 1" higher than door hanging down. Ripped the door right off.

Took my new 2014 silverado pickup to my chevy dealer yesterday to get my free tire rotation.When i got home i kept smelling strong paint odor,After looking around truck i found where they hit something with front about size of a nickle chip and touched it up and didn't even say anything!

I got my first scar on Monday on my Brand new 2015 Sierra select 32QBBS. 5th trip out this year and not a single scratch inside or out. Backing into my storage unit on Memorial Day in the rain, I got a little ahead of myself and got a little crooked and backed under the roof support beam. I got lucky I realized it when I did and just barely rubbed the roof but it did put a slight cut in the roof. I ordered a roll of eternabond roof repair tape and the color matches pretty good and from the ground, no one would ever know. Plus the roll came in 25' X 4" lengths so I have about 23' left for all the future oops. PS this repair tape seems pretty good and really easy to use. Only time will tell.
