No need to leave us !! There are plenty of SOB (some other brand) owners here on the forum.
What did you buy ?? We are in the market for a 5th wheel trailer, and are not just looking at Forest River products.

I would stay away from any Keystone product in my humble opinion.
Been there done that; and it was not a very good experience. I traded in a 318SAB Cougar on a Cedar Creek 34RL.
This is my third fifth wheel and the Cougar was my worst experience when dealing with the manufacture; a black hole.

I'm trying to sell my Sunseeker. Where and how did you sell yours? I'm constantly being approached by online sellers, and don't quite know who to trust.
Thanks!

Thanks! I feel better knowing that. I like this forum better than my manufacturer's forum.

Don't want to hijack the thread but all i can say MtnGuy is
THANK GOD....
We sold our 2012 Salem and purchased an 09 Heartland Sundance to which I've done several mods on already.
from adding surge protection hardwired like the Salem had
to a docking mirror and LED lights plus a pull through for the outside BBQ line.
Gotta love grandkids for getting people motivated to change.

Trust yourself. I'm still listed with an on line seller which picked my Kiiji advert in Canada. I was so trying to sell our unit to get a 5th wheel when we had a good dollar value against the US green back that i paid 300$ US for them to market it.
In the end the trailer and a local RV consignment sold it for us.
the dealership offered $14,500 for a trailer that sold in 2012 here for $34,000
We sold ours for almost $22,000 and purchased the 09 Sundance 31.5 bunkhouse for $15,000 plus the 13% sales tax upon registration.

I used a local RV dealer who charged a percentage. For that, they advertised it and showed it for me.

A small fifth wheel
Started my solo RV adventure with a small Class C. Am keeping my house and drop in there occasionally but am on the road 2-3 months at a time. Love the lifestyle and have built confidence. Now may be interested in a small fifth wheel so I can downsize to a one vehicle, top of the line truck. My car sits in my garage and I do not want to tow a car. Fifth wheel must have fixed bed and dry bath and all the automatics I can get to keep it easy. Any suggestions from the experts?

You've got more courage than I. I'd rather tow my CRV (which I don't) than mess with a 5er. It really depends on your style, whether you go somewhere and stay or whether you explore different areas. My 2300 fits about anywhere. Either way you go, I salute you!! Sisters on the road.

I had a heartland big country 5th wheel. It was a real good product. Had very little problems with it.

I joined here when I was looking for a small Class C. After much discussion and research, we also decided to stick with a fifth wheel but upgrade from our Keystone Laredo to a better unit. We picked up our new Arctic Fox 27-5L last week. Love it! 29'5" long...just right! Extremely well made. We've had various RV's for almost all the 42 yrs we've been married. At 66 and 64 years old, this is probably the last RV we ever buy but we expect to travel the US and Canada over the next 10 years or so.
If you are going to take your 5er on the road, I highly recommend you check out the AF by Northwood. Of course, if you are just going to take it to a nearby lake once a month and two weeks in the summer, you can be perfectly happy in something that isn't quite as well built.
There are dozens of reasons this was the right decision for us. I won't bore everyone with too many because it really is a very personal decision. A few of the STANDARD features that we were attracted to were 1) short on the outside but long on the inside, 2) full size (80") and full time queen bed, 3) 3,750 lbs net carrying capacity, 4) 82 gal fresh water capacity, 5) two grey tanks (67 gal for bath and 35 gal for kitchen), 6) 65 gal black tank with flush, 7) two 40 gal LPG tanks (most use 30 gal tanks), 8) 16" Goodyear Marathons on aluminum wheels, 9) E-Z lube axles, 10) greaseable suspension (zerks at the spring hangers) 11) shock absorbers at all wheels, Mor/ryde pin box, 12) 10 gal water heater, 13) double pane windows. That's enough for you to get the picture. Well built. Well equipped. We weren't looking for cheap. Just good value. You can spend less and get less. You can even spend more and get less.
We had to drive 500 miles to Abilene, Tx (Baird, actually) to the nearest dealer. A couple from Alabama were picking up their Nash TT (also Northwood) at the same time we were picking up ours. They drove 850 miles.
My wife asked me a couple of days ago why I was still on the Forest River forum site. I told her there is a lot of experience and expertise here and half the topics are not FR specific. I expect to stay and learn. Thanks for sharing...even with us SOB's.

We like many owners atre now at a lake but part of a Good Sam chapter in Fredericton that gets out on the road once a month in the spring summer and fall.
Our last trip was to the States for our Thanksgiving weekend.
We go to the NASCAR races in NH once a year as well.
The 5th wheel sticks to the road behind us whereas the Tow behind was teh tail wagging the dog.
Some day we might be able to afford a motor coach (if we are lucky enough to win the lottery like a friend of ours did last weekend) but for now we have teh 5th wheel bunk to enjoy the grand kids and our kids again.
