Springfield MO to Boise, ID via Grand Teton NP

I'm a newbie on a steep learning curve. Can anyone help me in planning this trip while avoiding steep grades and real high mountain passes? Thanks.

Springfield up to Lincoln Ne then take I-80 to Boise. Or Springfield to KC then I-70 to Denver, then I-25 North to I-80 west to Boise. Have fun!

X 2 Either of those routes will keep you out of mountain driving. According to Google, they are within 35 miles of being the same distance (at around 1,550 +/-). IMO, I-80 from Omaha would be a better route - less congested than the Denver area. Even though you are not in Denver proper, that I-70 / I-25 junction and the whole I-25 corridor going north is awfully congested.

Good luck and safe travels.

NO3putt gave you a good route to Boise but left out the “via Grand Teton NP” part. If you want to visit Grand Teton NP you will have to drive through the mountains to get there. To avoid the steepest grades to get to GTNP I would exit Interstate 80 at Rock Springs and head north on highway 191. Highway 191 will connect with highway 189 and eventually highway 26. Just keep heading north on 191 and it will take you to Grand Teton National Park.

From Grand Teton to Boise, ID there is no way to avoid mountain grades that I know of without heading all the way back to I-80. Maybe someone else can help you with that.

If you are planning to camp in Grand Teton NP, and you have not already made your reservations, you may be out of luck. We will be camping at Colter Bay RV Park in June, but we made our reservations more than a year ago. Colter Bay is in the heart of Grand Teton, right along the lakeside at Jackson Lake. It is the best possible place to camp, and offers convenient access to the town of Jackson, a convenient restaurant, and good roads north into Yellowstone. Please try to keep this a secret!!

I'll just say that that Jakie Boy is correct but you can find private campgrounds in Jackson just down the road...and a nice town to visit IF you can't get into Colter Bay. We stayed in town at the Virginian after Colter Bay. Nice park & super convenient to the free buses to everything...but a bit pricey.
If you have the option of going to Tetons first...I'd come in from the south on i80 to 191N at Rock Springs. Then head back out down 89 to 26 and Idaho Falls then interstate to Boise. If time permits you could also just head north out of Tetons and into Yellowstone on 191 which is an easy road...then out the West entrance to the town and points south on 20 to i15.
Have fun!
