Stabilization - Camco Wheel stops

Hello everyone,

Was not sure what section to post this in as I did not see one on Leveling and stabilization.

Has anyone used the Camco Wheel stops to help stabilize their trailer?

I saw these and they look nice and lightweight.

Amazon.com: Camco 44622 Wheel Stop (Large): Automotive

Are there any Rockwood HW296 owners out these that use these? Would I need the small size or the large size?

Thanks,

Vin.

Hi Vin

I just picked up a pair of XChocks and I have used them the last two times out. My TT didnt move at all, they are very solid and easy to use.

Yep. Saw those also. Just thinking the Camco ones may be a bit smaller and easier to pack. Plus they are cheaper!!!!

Agree on using x-chocks. Camco looks like a cheap imitation. You get what you pay for!

lol. so true! That is why I was wondering what others thought.

My friend made a mod using pieces cut from a 4X4 and using a pipe clamp to tighten them. They looked a lot like the Camco one. Just s simple wedge type design.

I figured I can but the Camco for around the same price as I can make them.

BAL does make a nice product.

Vin.

Much better grip with the x-chock using the wrench than hand tighten a knob.

X-chocks might be 3x's the money but it will be a one time expense not like Camco,

I used the camco on a 30' 5'ver and they did just fine, the fellow that bought it still uses them.

Give them a try. I've had standard chocks for the last 10 years and just switched to the x chocks this year when I bought my new rig. The worse that can happen is that your not satisfied and return them for the x chocks. I have been pleased with them so far. They do stabilize the camper a lot better than I thought they would.

You can save yourself a lot vs Bal X-Chocks by doing a homemade version of the camco product. I made mine with pressure treated 4x4s and stainless steel threaded rod. Sorry I don't have pictures but others on the forum have also made them.

I used the Camco on my Surveyor for 5 years. They worked very well. the only thing I would say is to tighten them a bit more after your tires cool, but I believe you have to do that with most chocks of this type.

I have used the camco chocks when using a friends trailer before buying our own. Although they did their job, I did not care for them and would recommend something better.

I chose the RotoChock for us and other than the cost, I can't possibly imagine how they could be improved upon. It was a tough choice between the Roto's and the x-chocks...I probably would have been happy with the x-chocks too.

Help on installing the Rotochok

Deluxe chock

I have this one and like it a lot. I choose it over the X-Chock because I didn't want yet another tool. Nice and tight, works well for me.

I got a set with my trailer when I bought it and they seem to work fine on my 30ft v lite.

Personally, I don't mind a little movement. I don't understand why people buy an RV and then spend $$$ to make it feel like they are not in an RV. Just my opinion.

lol. too funny. I am not sure either. But I do not like a lot of rocking when people get up in the middle of the night.
