Our rules are you have to be traveling with your RV (TT, 5th Wheel, MH) in order to put the sticker on

I like the "make your own rules" idea.
After driving a truck for twenty years, I have traveled most states east of the Rockies but I never kept track. While RV'ing I like to keep up with where my wife and I have been together in an RV. May someday put up a map, but it would most likely be inside the camper.
Also liked the "reason for living" quote on one of the replies.
Happy Camping.

Generally we would need to stay overnight but I would consider adding one if we spent most of a day visiting on our way through while using the trailer for eating and as a base of operations.

We did not want to put the map on the camper plus would need a new one if changed camper so we put ours on a small piece of plexi glass with holes to hang it on hooks.

I'm guessing if someone asked you, "Have you ever been to XX state?" you would say, "Yes," even if you'd just passed through.

So I'm in the "pass-through is OK" camp. 'Cause I WAS there!

I think I'm somewhere in the middle. An overnight stay isn't required but I must have done more than just pass through.

Thanks for the thread, I was curious how other people do it. I have been to 46 of the 50 states, but have only had my camper/RV in the southeast. My rule is we must spend a night in the state to count it. I am trying to put together a trip this fall to get 6 more states on the list.

Interestingly enough, I counted the state if I just passed through it on my motorcycle. I guess the bike is for riding and the camper is for camping so it took those two activities to add to the map.

Our rules are if we stop and my copilot wakes up and "designates" that the state belongs to him, then it gets a sticker!

We don't use the map, but we do collect a pin from each place visited ! My vote is if you camp or just visit, you can claim it.

Might be possible. I've been to Texas and have seen how you drive down there.

We don't track states, we track activities. For example, we ate dinner and watched a show at a place called Dixie Stampede. If we go back it'll be because of things like that, not because of the state it happens to be in.
After all, when somebody talks about an upcoming trip, their questions primarily concern what types of activities are available. I can't think of a single time somebody asked me "how did you like the highways?"
Having said all that, I don't think ill of anyone that tracks their travels, regardless of how they track them.
