storaging the motorhome fuel or very little
Hi all,
I'm wondering of your opinion, do you recommend filling up your motorhome when you put it in storage, or with the least amount of gas fuel as possible?

If you are talking long-term storage, I would fill it up and add some sta-bil to the tank. If the tank is low, it will accumulate moisture.

fill it up to eliminate possibility of moisture condensation but 3 to 5 weeks is not that long for a problem to develop... 3 to 5 months or longer I would add something like Sta-Bil
depending on your location you may NOT be able to purchase ethanol free fuel... certainly not in KY or OH...

I would always recommend that you store your RV with a full tank of fuel, whether it be diesel or gas. By doing this, you keep your "air gap" in your fuel tank at a minimum, thereby reducing the condensation of water in your tank.
Water in your tank is especially bad for diesels since it makes your desiccant filter fill up faster, plus subject your tank to corrosion. For gassers, the water can lead to tank corrosion plus hard starting and running.
Using SeaFoam or any other type of stabilizer, will help the fuel stay "fresher".

I will be filling it from now on before putting in storage. We live and store it in Minnesota.

I do store mine full with Sta-bil or Seafoam,,,
But I don't think gas tanks are any longer Metal !!!

Check out a product called VALV TECH, available for Diesel or for Gasoline. Available in the pumped fuel at select Marinas but also available as an additive. Check out on their website, and I and friends could go on and on attesting to the fact that it does all of what it claims, which is extensive. I use in all fuel tanks that I will not be using for awhile. Good for 1 year storage if I remember correctly. No other product that I am aware of comes anywhere near it.
