Storm Damage 370 Lakeside RV Park

Yesterday (15 May) a severe thunderstorm rolled through St. Peters, MO and the strong winds flipped at least one RV in the 370 Lakeside Park. Two people in that RV were injured and fire crews had to break out a window to get them out of the RV. Some pics.

We live just a few miles from there and so we experienced the storm that went through. Would have been pretty scary to be in your RV in that situation. We also saw a tow truck pulling a different 5th wheel that looked pretty damaged. We assumed it was from the same campground. Hope everyone there is ok. What a bummer to start the camping season with a damaged RV.

Hoped no one got killed, you can always get a new RV, that looks totaled to me. Bad time of year for tornado alley. My Bother-in-law is on his way here right now from Calif. I told him to be booked at some KOA with a shelter going through that zone.

Was that just shear wind or a small tornado in your area?

Storm damage 370

Here's another picture of a large motorhome caught by a tornado in Alabama. At least the twister left the seats.

I believe it was straight wind damage.

Tornado Season?

For us folk living North of the 49th, what months are generally considered tornado season in the tornado prone areas. I have hurricane season pretty clear in my mind but not sure about tornadoes.
Thank you

Living in Kansas City, Mo., I consider April, May and June to be the prime months. But they can happen anytime of the year. It isn't something I worry about. Just need to take the proper precautions, keep an I on the sky, ear to the radio and know where the nearest storm shelter is if needed.

Wow great pics you got , sure hope they are ok and yes life is more important than any RV . Living in Indiana first thing I always do is get camp set up and 2nd locate a good place to ride out a storm and always have an eye to the sky and weather radio near just in case . Also have a good weather app on my smart phone to alert me of any bad weather coming .

That's the park where we usually stay when we return to the St. Louis area because its very convenient to where two of our daughters and their families live. This weekend, though, we're at the Casino Queen because it's handier to where our oldest granddaughter was married on Friday evening and graduated from St. Louis University this morning.

We really like 370 Lakeside, but especially in the cold weather the location between two levees near the Missouri River creates a wind tunnel where the cold air cuts through like a knife. Apparently that's what happened with yesterday's thunderstorms.

OUCH! I wonder how my light pop up would fare if that huge 5th wheel was blown over. I am glad that tornadoes are rare here in New England.
