Storm-Proofing

We're embarking on our first big trip in about five weeks and are looking for tips/advice/recommendations for weathering rain and storms both while on the road and in a campground.

Thanks in advance!

All I can say is if your camping pay attention to the weather if it looks bad retract your awning, stow anything you don't want to get wet or blown away, make sure your roof vents are closed and ride it out. If there is a chance of tornados go to the campground storm shelter if they have one. Same thing if on the road if its getting really bad and windy try to make it to a parking lot and sit tight. You will do fine.

When at a campground we like to fill our water tank for added weight during wind and storms. Otherwise we just weather the storm. On the road if it's bad we find the nearest rest area or truck stop and find a safe place to park.

Pay attention to the weather regularly when at the campground. Through your phone or weather radio if you have one. I always check it right before bed.

If they're talking crazy rain overnight
then I'll even go as far as retracting the slide for the night. Doesn't really affect us while sleeping.

Half the battle is knowing it's coming. Common sense will prevail from there.

The dreaded sharknado is something I hope I never have to deal with. Frightening.
