Strange things afoot at the Forest River dealer

We were supposed to pick up our RV, yesterday. 2017 Forest River Georgetown 364 bunkhouse. It was already a month past the date they told us it would be ready and it was still not ready when we got there. They had the flooring replaced because of a recall but they told us it would only be 4-5 weeks to get it done. Yesterday was 8 weeks since we signed the contract. The RV had 1850 miles on it when we signed on February 25th. This is supposed to be a NEW RV but we were told that they are all driven to the dealer from the factory in Indiana so that's why the mileage. It now has over 3000 miles on it! They state that it had to be driven to the "factory" in Fontana, CA to have the floors replaced. We're in Phoenix, AZ. I googled and the Forest River factory out there is exactly 347 miles from the RV dealer. Comes out to 694 round trip. Let's call it 700 miles. Why the hell would there be an additional 1150 miles on it? We were never told they had to drive this thing out of state and it seems ridiculous that we would accept delivery with over 1100 extra miles on it from when we signed. My wife has been asking around in her RV'ers Facebook page and people are saying that it's common for these dealers to let their employees use new RV's on the weekends and they will actually still rent them out to people while they're waiting for the factory to get them back in for non-critical repairs. I am incredulous. Once again, I find myself blown away with the corruption in this world. I guess I'll never learn. We are now supposed to pick it up later this week. We're considering our options on breaking out of this deal but unsure of what those options are. They already have our sizable down payment and we've signed contracts. Anyone else out there with similar stories? What did you do? What can we do? Thanks, in advance.

wow that is crazy!!!! and unacceptable!!! if the original mileage of 1100 is on your contract then that's what you should be getting and if it's not 1100 miles on the rv then they BROKE the contract and therefore you should get your deposit back plain and simple!!! and if they refuse to refund your deposit then that's what small claims court is for. on the other hand if you really have your heart set on it (especially after waiting all this time) maybe you could negotiate a partial refund or credit or extended warranty in lieu of them doing whatever shady crap they did!!!

Thanks, we're thinking along the same lines. It's been a full day and no response yet. Going to push the issue, today!

Better they sent it to Fontana than back to Elkhart, but the extra 1100 miles sounds shady. Let us know how it turns out.

I wonder if someone from the dealership used your unit for a quick jaunt somewhere. Its not unheard of.

I don't know what I would do, but I would certainly make them account for the extra miles.

I would quietly contact a lawyer they may be in breech of contract, but I would see what they are willing to do, 2 weeks for repairs is accepted however 8 weeks is far fetched. Good Luck
