Suburban Hot Water Heater Q

Have a new 2015 Mini Lite with the Suburban hot water tank. Bought it at the end of last season and during our walk-through with the tec, he pointed out the electrical off/on switch at back of unit.
The switch was in what would be normally considered the on position, toggled up. He stated this was off. I questioned that and he assured me it was off. Well I guess I'm still questioning it and before I open it up I would like to confirm with other owners if this is correct. Not really wanting to burn it up before i get to use it.

Unless the switch is wired backwards on should be on and off should be off.

"On" is rocker flipoed down
"off" is rocker flipped up.
I also have an interior on/off switch so my outside switch stays "on" @ all times and we control it from inside the camper.

Not sure what you mean there. Simple way to ask is pushing the top in would seem to be 'on'. Pushing the bottom in would seem to be 'off'. Correct?

Mine does 'not' have any markings whatsoever. Just black. Maybe they ran out of white ink that day.

When in doubt, turn the breaker off. (-:

When in doubt

Alternatively, when in doubt, insure that the water heater is full of water before plugging shore power. If it heats up, its on.

That key pin is inserted into the ON side of the switch so that you cannot turn ON the switch if the key is inserted. It's a safety thing to prevent the rocker switch from being turned ON when there is no water in tank and therefore burning the heating element out. Normally used to store/winterize the RV. FROG FOREVER!!!!!!
