Suggestions for camping near Asheville, NC?
We are taking a family trip over the kids' fall break - with two Great Dane pups that will be 15 weeks - in our Flagstaff Travel Trailer and will be going around Western North Carolina. We found Campfire Lodging, but for the 2 days we want to be in the area, they don't have the Premium site with the gorgeous mountain view available. Anyone know of another campsite with breathtaking mountain views that we could try? I'm googling other places too, but thought this group may be able to provide some input. Thanks in advance!

Pigeon Forge is not too far, and Pine Mountain Resort is exquisite.

Yes. Best views of any campground in the region. The premium sites need to be reserved as soon as possible.

Thank you for the suggestion. We are actually going to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg over Thanksgiving so are trying to stay in NC in September, but will definitely bookmark your suggestion for our TN trip.

Later take the pups to Four Paws Kingdom Campground in Rutherfordton. Our favorite campground ever.

Camping near Ashville
We stayed a few weeks ago and it was very nice. We stayed overnight only. Swannanoa, North Carolina Campground | Asheville East KOA The state has few state parks for camping, you need to look at private campgrounds.

The kindest and only KOA I would visit
The family that owns the KOA in Greenville SC are the best. The Father is a retired TX firefighter. His boys who also work at the CG are incredible boys who have been raised very well. The wife is incredible.
I have had many horrible experiences with KOA CG's/ The owners only there to make a $ Buck.
This family has put there livelihood into it. I was there approx 7 months ago and I shook my head when I arrived due to numerous KOA's being overpriced and rudeness from staff etc (Yet I was to tired to drive more, I traveled from ND). (I get along with everyone and had in my 5 weeks learned to dislike KOA)
Any way I was new to full time camping, hookups from Cable switch to hoses etc. They took the time to help back me into my spot. I do not mean 5 minutes the father kept giving me instructions and we practiced 30 minutes.
I have backed trailers that I could see around like boats. But was very nervous about not having a 2nd person etc, were not too busy at that moment
Every camper is escorted to their sit via golf cart. During my practice the boys started a campfire for me as they overheard me ask dad where I could buy wood.
They also brought me dinner. I am a retired Military Police and civilian cop. So we bonded well. I would crawl over glass recommending them as you will not find a better family run operation in the united states. They are located at 2400 US-25, Travelers Rest, SC 29690

Are the Great Smokies too far for you? Dry camping in the national park is great and you are right in the middle of the great views.

You can't go wrong with the Pegion Forge or Gattlinburg area. We travel to that area several times a year. We also travel with our 4 (that's right four) Great Danes and they love the mountain views as well. We travel in a 2013 Georgetown 378 XL. Safe travels!!

We will be at Campfire Lodging for a week September 10th. Got a site across from the premium ones but still should be nice views based on the video they have of the place. Will post an update if you are still looking then and let you know how it is. Mama Gerties was booked since we needed two sites for us and another couple. Headed toward Gatlinburg after leaving Asheville area for another week.

Bear creek rv park is very near Asheville and ready to get to. It is a little tight for big rigs but we were fine with our TT. And there is plenty of exercise area for your pups. If you can get an upper level the view is great and you can even see a tip of the Biltmore.

There is a small off-leash area for them.
