Progressive Industries can't be topped. Either hard-wired or portable; both have pros and cons. The biggest pro to the hard-wired is it essentially theft proof.

Thing of it as insurance against having to replace your on board electronics (tv, microwave, fridge, AC, water heater, etc) if something happens.

Go with hard wired , use lugs to the unit so if needed you can disconnect the unit for repair

Go to the Progressive Industries web site. They have upgraded the EMS PT 30c and 50c, however the EMS PT 30c and 50c are still great products and warrantied/guarantied for life. I can say both the 30c and 50c are well worth their price. Saved my inverter and electronics several times, surges, low voltage and no grounds.

Surge Protector

Camping World: Campers for sale, RV Supplies, Good Sam Club Services and more

50 amp
Portable Surge Guard with LCD Display, 50 Amp - TRC 34850 - Surge Protectors - Camping World

Lock
Surge Guard Universal Lock Hasp - TRC 34590-001 - Surge Protectors - Camping World

This is what I have. I'm not going to say someone couldn't steal it but if they really wanted it they will unplug your cord and carry the whole thing off. I think you'll be fine. Most Camper are really nice and we have not run into any bad folks. Just saying. You'll be fine but it does feel good having that surge protection.
