Texas Rains

We have had a lot of rain this year in the DFW area of Texas. Last year I think we received about 27 inches and were in a bad drought. On Sunday we were in the process of moving sites at Joe Pool Lake in Texas. Saturday night we started getting rain around 1 AM and it stopped at 8 AM. I showed to get close to 4.5 inches of rain. We looked at the sites on Sunday morning to check the conditions of the sites. We did not have any closures at 9 AM. We looked again at 11:30, all ok. The one picture is of the lake road and one is from the sites on the water. We have had 20+ inches so far this year
Watch out for the fast rising water.
Both road and the sites were clear 2 hours earlier.

Believe me I love it. It is doing my yard good. The park just called me and told me they were closing all the sites in that ring and there are no sites to move to. I was to be there for 14 days.

Ya, we were at Tres Rios in GlenRose when the storms hit Sat-Sun, it was pretty cool seeing the creeks and rivers flowing like they are! I tried to get a good picture of Big Rocks as we left, but couldn't!

We were sent home a week ago Monday when the COE closed West Burns Run park on Lake Texoma. This pic is of a parking lot serving a boat ramp. I drove on the lot on Thursday and could see 8-10 feet of ramp. I made this pic on Monday - only 4 days later. I've poured 14.6" out of my gauge since April 21!

It seems the last couple of years the weather is really weird. The best job is being a weatherman / weather woman, seems they never are right and always keep there jobs. They tell me on TV that's it's raining in Clarksville and it's a beautiful sunny day. Seems all the middle States have been hit hard lately. Hope everyone has been safe.

I know it's popular to raze weather forecasters, but I think our local ones in the DFW area are pretty much right on with their predictions. They even have a time track feature that tells when a storm is approaching each town/city in its path that I think is fairly accurate.

As I watched the weather last night on the tornadoes in Mineral Wells, I thought that we do have some of the best weather people around. That is not to say any others are not good but, living here most of my life I watch , believe and make decisions on the information we get. We are still at Joe Pool for now hoping to spend the Memorial Holiday and thank those who served for us and allow the freedom that we have.

Thanks to all who gave to this country to be free!

That looks like Loyd Park? We like that place. You must have made your reservations for the holiday a year ago. It was a hoot on Halloween.

14 days? Since you were going to make that long drive from Arlington, you might as well stay a while.

We drive over the Joe Pool bridges every evening on our way home from work. The entire parking lot at the Oasis Restaurant is underwater! Wow.

Well, we finally had to leave Lloyd Park on Tuesday. We received a call from the Operations director about a lake close to Hwy 287 and Hwy 67, that they believed the earth dam was going to fail at anytime. As it was , it did not but also found out that my brother had passed away on Tuesday evening. We are headed to Virginia for his funeral.
Please pray for people that have been stricken with Alzheimer as it is a devastating disease.

Sorry for your loss. Alzheimer's is a nasty disease. We are dealing with it with my MIL. Horrible watching her. She lives with us and we have a nurse that comes and helps us during the day.

Don't want to hijack the thread. May post something later about this.

Does this now break the drought? Texas is a big state, did the rain fall in the area that needed the rain?

We've been very dry in the panhandle, this is a huge blessing even though we got it in a short amount of time, I'll take it anytime. I pray for those in dire straits
