Thumbs up Thank you all for EMS Surge Protector opinions

Just ordered our first EMS Surge Protector from Progressive today. We consider ourselves lucky, have been camping for over 40 yrs., & have never owned one. Ya'll scared us with the amount of times it saved your trailer appliances, & just purchasing a 2015 Flagstaff 27rlws last year, we knew it was an essential investment. Thank you for all your help.

Yep, I've been camping for 8 years and ordered mine last month after reading the posts too. I had an incident last year that could have been bad. Post had to be rewired when my power suddenly went out and I had been plugged in overnight. The camp repairman showed me where there had been sparking inside the campsite hookup post. I use the same site every year but you never know what happens while you've been away.

Mine was put to use two weeks after I installed it. Hooked up at a campground and had major electrical issues on the pole. The EMS kicked in and blocked everything to the camper. Moved to the next campsite over and all was right in the world. I don't know what would have happened to my rig if I didn't have it installed.

I bought one the start of this season, brought it home hooked it up to the outlet on the front of the house and found out I had an open ground. I always wondered why I had problems with that outlet (ie Christmas lights).

Are you sure you're reading it correctly? I thought the same thing; turns out I was reading it horizontally instead of vertically. One circuit on the left and the other circuit on the right. That's if you've got the 50amp version. And I can't say enough about Progressive Industries customer service! Those guys are great!

I too got one for the first time this year never had an issue at a campground but our campers 30 plus years ago did not have as many electronics.

No converter, no radio, no microwave, no electric side to a water heater, and the list goes on.

The 12V system was totally a separate system. There were 110V and 12V lights separately, some campers even had gas lighting. No tank sensors, No tanks Heaters, The good old days ?
