There has been a commercial or public service announcement on television the past week or so asking veterans to display a green light on their house to show the world they served their country.

This is asking everyone (not just veterans) to display a green light to support all veterans past and present.

I, for one, find the climate really great for vets. I served 28 years and saw times when we had to hide our status from the very people we served. In 1968 We were told not to wear our uniforms off-base as the Massachusetts citizens would damage our vehicles and throw stones at us. I am thankful that now my daughter (an Air Force officer) doesn't have to deal with this. She was deployed to the middle east and came home in one piece. Thank you for allowing veterans to come home to normalcy and letting them know they are appreciated. God bless the USA.

Understand. I did not serve in Vietnam, but was in from 66 to 69. Upon discharge I was mostly silent about my service to my country. Now, I have no hesitation talking about it.

God Bless America and all of those who have served.

When I returned from 'Nam the first time, the flight from CA to MI was quite enjoyable. The people next to me kept feeding me drinks.

While on that leave, I wore my uniform once and that was once too much. Almost ended up in jail when some low-life college kid spit at me!

Later, after discharge, some would have nothing to do with me or any vet.
Times change....but memories last forever!

Good to hear Brother! I, like you, had a less than pleasant time of it when in uniform.

Regardless, I would like to thank MainelyUS, the OP, for this thread. We appreciate your patriotism and support!

Thank you all veteran's, you are all "Heros" in my book, because of you, we have can vote for whom we ever want, because of you I can attend any church, believe in who I want, I can go to school, because I have the freedom to choose. I wish we could "Thank"you more than one day out of the year.. You are truly an "American Hero"
Happy Trails
