Hey Radio; Sounds like you have really prepared yourself for the interview process! It was nice to read your journey through the process! I wish more candidates would become familiar with the position and background on the company before being interviewed. I have inteviewed many candidates that was not prepared for the interview, did not have a clue of what was involved in the job! 9-1-1 Centers operate 24/7! They wasted their time and OURS!

Sounds like you may be a guy that listens to podcasts. If you are not already listening to manager tools may I suggest the site. Search Manager-Tools.com, Mike and Mark do a great job sharing their experiences and knowledge on the do's and dont's of management. It is great information for managers and employees alike.

Good luck with the pursuit of the position. I enjoyed reading your thread, I hope you will continue to inform us of your progress!

Best of luck man. But it is more than that as you know. You make some of your own luck. And you are doing the right things. Unemployment is stressful. Many of us have been there. Stay energized.

I just got a call from a head hunter who wants a Test Engineer for fiber optic systems. Well, test engineering is what I'm all about, and did fiber optics in particular for 3 1/2 years. So that's me, I guess. Put a package together and emailed it to him a little while ago.

BANG! Jeepers!

I'm off and running again!

The rest of the story is I am still sitting at home. I can tell the depth of recession by the way companies and recruiters treat their applicants. Back in 1995 - 2000 an applicant who was breathing and warm was treated with the utmost respect, and now people with PhD's are routinely given the respect due that you would find in a cat litter box.

At least 4 companies have been in touch with me and all of them have committed careless blunders of etiquette that would have gotten HR people reprimanded "back when"

Sweet Wife is fairing much better - she has been accepted as a music substitute teacher in two local county school systems. She is the only available string orchestra substitute available in either county. (Those are a bit rare, you know?) So once she struts her stuff, one of the two systems will grab her up in a heartbeat for the next available opening.
