The Weather Is The Story

I really do tire of talking about the weather day in and day out but as long as things remain as they are the weather will be the story and that means I'll be talking about it. Opening fishing weekend is May 9th - May 12th here and the lake they have the Governors Fishing opener on this year has 32 inches of ice. Last night we got another 10 inches of snow while up north near Duluth they got another 18 plus inches. I will be driving thru there and camping a bit further north in about four weeks. This is all new territory in terms of winter lasting so long so I am really not sure what to expect then. Its truly historic. I probably wont see another winter like this one in my lifetime. I will keep on posting here as long as the weather remains the story!

Here is a picture of the snow removal company moving snow around where I work today. I would love to hear weather related news from others. The type that affects what I'd really rather be doing..camping!

Oh goodness.

We'll be on our third trip this weekend. Biggest worry for us is how the thunderstorms might affect us, if/when they hit. It was 90 degrees this week, which is warm for us.

I've been disappointed with our weather (mostly mid 50s/rainy) but I would cry if we had anything like those piles of snow!! I guess I should be happy with what we got!

The planet sure seems to be alive and kicking and leaving quite a wake. In another posting someone described nature as fragile. Rather, I would say its ferocious and uncontrollable. We are truly at its mercy. And Florida....soo good to see people in the water and not for a polar plunge!

I AM SO DONE WITH THIS WINTER! We have yet to have a week here it has not snowed at some point. I don't even dare think about dewinterizing. Tonight more snow scheduled. Its almost May, for goodness sake! Yesterday was torrential rain and thunderstorms. I am expecting thundersnow any time now! Was camping in early May last year. Usually by this time in April we have been hearing the spring peepers (yay, frogs!) down on the river for a while. Nothin' yet this year This was last week's offering - from my bedroom window.

The death pangs of winter are upon us in Minnesota...
Forecast yesterday was for 5-9 inches of snow overnight. Woke up this morning to about 3-4 inches of snow instead and this lovely sight. I say lovely because of the forecast forthcoming for this weekend. We have not seen a high temperature above 60 degrees in over five months and 70 degrees in six months. This is the type of winter that will crush any mans spirit. Driving home yesterday from work and seeing the snow flying I truly was in awe of nature!

A line from a Jimmy Buffett song:
"The weather is here, wish you were beautiful."
We'll be on our third trip of the year next weekend. Going to Talladega for four days to watch them go fast and turn left.
We've been having cool nights, mid 50's and nice days, mid 70's here in southeast Ala.
I pity you poor folks who have to deal with snow this late in the year.
