Or for about $20 you can get a keyed hinge lock.
That is a good idea also stop the tailgate from popping off if there is snow or ice on the bumper. Going to put one on.

I also lock my tailgate

Talking You would be amazed.

A buddy of mine told me a story about his gated community. The community has a private lake with a 5hp limit, that about 35 of the houses have water access too. Seems one weekend everyone discovered that all of their motors had been un-bolted and dropped off the end of the boats. You could see your motor in the water looking straight down from the stern of the boat.

This was attributed to kids bad horseplay. Two months later after everyone had the insurance company replacement. They were all stolen.

Kids, I think not.

I keep waiting for someone to start stealing/cutting-off body panels of the aluminum body trucks like they do the catalytic converters.

My tailgate has the camera, the step, and the stripper pole. It's one of the most expensive tailgates you can buy. It takes mere seconds to lift a tailgate off and walk away. Mere seconds more if the thief has to punch the lock. But for less than sixty seconds work, the thief can make $500.00 or more. A guy heading to replace his $1500.00 tailgate isn't going to ask too many questions.

Remember- when seconds count, the police are only minutes away...

Put a Jimmi Jammer Gate Keeper on my tailgate as well as Jimmi Jammers in the doors. Unless you have a Torx bit in your back pocket it is not coming off easily and a would be thief will generally move on to an easier target.

I do have to disagree with what Jimmy Jammer says though... The most common tool used in vehicle theft and break in is... NOTHING... 99% the car are left unlocked... LOL
