We're picking up our first TT tomorrow. Since we're total newbies to all things RV, I was already nervous about our first trip, also tomorrow, but now I'm downright terrified after reading all these stories lol.

Don't worry. These stories are accumulated over time! If everything that happens over the YEARS of camping happened in one season, we'd all vacation in hotels. Really it's fun.

Just stay in the right lane, drive at speed you're comfortable with, and just relax.
They'll be plenty of time at the campground to get aggravated.

We've had two campers, and have travelled thousands of miles with them. The DW and I have a saying, "If you don't have any stories to tell, it wasn't much of a trip". You will make rich memories that last forever. :-)

You know what they really don't show in those Go RV'ing videos? All the fun and great times you can have at not just the Goshen Rally, but all the other FROG rallies both local and those hosted by Bob and Cindy. Meeting and making new friends at the various FROG rallies has greatly enhanced our RV'ing experiences.
I say this even though FROG Bob set up as a "big dummy" at last year's Goshen Rally.

Jean,
Don't stress too so much! Remember RV'ing is supposed to be relaxing and something you do to de-stress yourself from your normal life :-)
The no S--- there I was stories are accumulated over the years of RV'ing
In addition you've got a lot of really knowledgeable old timers in the forum that are more than willing to help you guys out. So ask away!
Oh one thing you do need to do is make sure you get a copy of the pre-delivery inspection checklist here in the form prior to picking up your new RV

I've had two sailboats, tents, two trailers, a 5 wheeler and a motor home. But my wife never jumped out and kissed the ground when we got back from camping.

That this new RV costing you thousands and thousands of dollars will have the cheapest least reliable tires they can find on it.

Our first trip with our 2010 TT last Sept was memorable. When we bought the camper I asked about the tires, they looked new but had been given advice to ask about them. I was told they were two years old and like I said they looked new. About an hour into our 7 hour drive the passenger side rear blew. Its 4 am and I am changing a flat on I49. Tore out the brake wiring and took the skirt too. Got back on the road for about 2 miles and the opposite tire went. No more spare. Limped it a mile to a truck stop. Its now 6am. Found a tire store put 4 new tires on and 6 hours and 600 bucks later got back on the road. Rest of the trip was great except for my nerves.
From now on every 3 or 4 years I will have new tires.

What they also don't show is that your neighboring campers will likely be super friendly, incredibly helpful and willing to lend you a hand for most any problem you may encounter!
Our first trip- we had help from a fellow walking by, a neighbor checked on us with our dump valves, and another fellow stopped by to ask us why we were so slow hitching up (seeing if we were having issues).

Don't advise doing this!
In the early 90's we had a little Slumberqueen RV with a Toyota cab. So that our little guy could be closer to us when driving, hubby drilled through the floor to secure the baby seat behind us. We were quite proud of the idea..... It wasn't until we took it out on the next trip that we smelled the lovely aroma, which let us know we had inadvertently drilled through the black tank. It was not fun sealing that back up Lol!!

First, take these as real world precautionary tales.
Always check that the chocks are set.
Always check that the dump valves are closed before removing the cap. Stuff like that.
But you'll be fine. If in doubt, ask one of us. Campers are usually the nicest people you'll meet, just walk next door and ask. You'll have more help than you know what to do with.

Normal doesn't make memories.
I say that because if you look back you don't think about the trips (or part of a trip) where everything went smooth. You remember the time you got stuck in the rain. Or something broke. Or you missed the turn and got lost. Most of that stuff you look back on and laugh about now.
