You can buy those VW's from VW. Some of them are being resold after being "fixed'. Most get a new program, some new emissions parts, and an extended warranty.

We bought one (11' Jetta) 6 weeks ago for a commuter. 38+ MPG's in mostly city/rural driving. Nice car actually and I swore I'd never own a diesel again.

They must travel to NY often. I could never understand why at a certain Flying J small cars and pickup trucks fill half of the RV parking spaces, when there are empty car spaces just a few feet away.

This was our view while traveling home on Sunday during a FREAK Nebraska snow storm. Sure was glad to see the snowplow come by while waiting at the stop sign.Click image for larger version

I see that all the time as well. One stop, there was only two rv spaces, there was an RV in one and a small car in the other; there were plenty of open car spots. The car people had just come out of the store and got into the car, so I figured they were leaving, but no, they just sat in the car totally oblivious that I was waiting for them to move (right behind them taking up their whole rear view mirror - you would think they would get the hint). we did go up and ask them if they were planning on leaving soon as we needed the spot. They did agree to move but geez.

That is why my last trip of the year is close to home. Oct is a coin flip for weather.

When you live in Nebraska, a 4 hour pull is close to home. [emoji4]

Our last trip for the year was to the Albuquerque Balloon Festiva. On our way to Colorado Springs we ran into similar conditions going over the pass on the NM - CO border. Later we passed the VW diesel lot. I wondered why all those cars were parked there. Now I know.

We woke up to 2in of snow this past Monday morning in Grants, NM. When we headed east the temp dropped from 33deg to 26deg. Finally warmed up to 39deg by the time we got to Abilene.

Driving in snow/ice/slush is not fun.

Lots. There's actually a phone booth at Bull Shoals/White River State Park in AR that has a working payphone. Not sure if it's rotary or buttons though. Always see tourists- especially out-of-country tourists- piling in and taking pics.

How about a Red Neck fence here in NC. The neighbors must hate it. Click image for larger version

On Wednesday driving through South Carolina I saw an old refurbished F150 with big tires and SC vanity plate. “MERICA”. Couldn’t get a picture. He was speeding
