Third Trip Was a Charm
With less than 300 miles on the tires, replaced them with Maxxis and a Dill tire monitoring system. Also got the new Dish satellite system.
Drove just over 325 miles to the Oregon Coast, to the town of Seaside. Stayed at the Thousand Trails RV park, was really nice, but thinking there is not a level site in the entire park. When making right hand turn, the pet carried was placed in bed of pickup and pulled the emergency trailer brake pin out, stopped in middle of corner, got it reset.
Got settled in, couldn't get it level, satellite blocked, then the center baffle in the black tank plugged up. Gave up on the satellite, spent 3 hours unplugging toilet/tank, moved to another site, much better.
Now the satellite worked, 5th wheel leaned slightly in the opposite direction, banged my head really hard on slide out, still hurts after 65 days, rained off and one for several days, but it was all good.
When time to leave, PTO pin from the landing legs was wedged between the square tubing. Borrowed a bigger hammer from neighbor, made a few adjustments, rolled and headed towards home.
Went over the bridge crossing the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington, car pulls along side and has a sign held up that said "stairs!" Looked and stairs came down a couple of miles back. Pulled over and put them back in place, took off. About 18 miles later, steps came down again, stopped and secured steps with 5 tie wraps.
Today, drilled 2 holes in steps and installed 2 PTO pins, will install chains on each one, tomorrow, so wife won't misplace them if she pulls them out. Fixed landing leg.
We were gone 8 days, had a blast, got 10.3mpg into the wind there and 12.9mpg going home. The satellite system worked great when in a clearing, and the Dill tire monitor worked great.
We leave for Joseph, Oregon in 3 weeks, think the bugs are out of it now.
