This is clearly a disease...

Our TV was somewhat challenged, so we bought the "most" RV that we could safely tow. All is good, we love our RV, though we haven't really used it much because we got it in September. We bought this year because we got a great deal, but it's killing me to not be able to use it much. I think we slept in it about 10 times, mostly in the yard.

Anyway, now I've been researching trucks with an eye towards an upgrade. Really??? An upgrade??? We haven't even gotten our feet wet, yet. This is crazy...

I've been trying to determine the quality hierarchy of the FR brands and looking at floor plans as we already have some nits to pick over our current RV.

Did I mention this is crazy??? Clearly a disease....

I think if dealerships would allow us to to tow the RV and spend a weekend in the RV before actually purchasing it would cure the problem

But they won't because they would loose business.

Good luck, we've all been there.

I'm in exactly the same boat...uh, trailer. I've had this one about a year now and love it, but I know in about three or four more years, I'll be looking for just a little bigger. I'm already window shopping in order to get an idea of how much truck I'm going to have to buy first.

This "disease" you have may still be on Stage1....Stage2 is getting stuff and mods...you think trailers are expensive...Stage3 is the expense of camping...Stage4 is the famous "trailer up-grade" stage....and maybe even a new-new TV to go with the new trailer. Look out

I'm definitely in the 'mod' stage of the disease, I just can't stop! My DH likes to tease me about playing house with our trailer, but I ain't playing this is serious!

This is clearly a disease...

Don't get me wrong, we're very happy campers, lol, it's just that we have already noted some things....

1. Bigger holding tanks would be nice. Boondocking is interesting to me and 30 gal tanks seem challenging.

2. The tiny bathroom is not as easy to adapt to as we convinced ourselves it would.

3. Lack of counter space. I knew this would be an issue, but she said no.

4. The couch that we really wanted, is pretty uncomfortable.

5. Thin walls and floor of mini light bother me more than I thought they would.

Oh, well.... we really do love our new trailer, but it likely won't be our last! The max tow capability of our SUV is 5k lbs... trailer is 4184 dry according to sticker. We are presently maxed.

Speaking of boats... now that we've been camping and we can't pull the pontoon with DW's car, we'll be purchasing a 16-18' runabout within her towing capacity, used of course. Woo hoo... and a bigger truck, since ours is maxed out. Doubt we'll upgrade the TT since it's mostly just the two of us and a grandkid or two now and then.

You may as well give in. Resistance is futile, you WILL be assimilated.

I told my wife a couple months ago...this is it. I got a new grill...and I said I have one more thing on the way.... I did good for a few weeks. It is bad when you get a delivery and have to open it to remember what you ordered. Yes. It happens to me. I have five orders(I think) out right now...that is sad. Nothing expensive, but it adds up fast.

Disease

The only way to temporarily fight this disease is to throw $ at it, it is self feeding, the more $ you throw at it, the more it craves.
Remember, the there is a new do-dad around every camp ground and newer bigger units !!

Yes it does add up! I love this forum with all the great, helpful advice However, it does kinda feed the disease b/c you get so many great ideas for mods! Like the smart tile for example, I immediately ordered some of those, lol!

I'm trying to avoid looking at other trailers b/c I don't want to get the upgrade bug, not for a long while. I'm grateful that so far we have been very content with our tt choice

We purchased our first Travel Trailer in late August a 261BHXL and have really been enjoying the experience. Of course we are already looking at brochures and plan on attending some RV shows this winter. I have been secretly looking at 3/4 diesel trucks just in case !!!

29" smart TV mounted in garage
40" smart TV mounted in living room
Motorcycle chock in Garage
3rd leg on wobbly table
4000W Onan Generator
Water accumulator
Vent covers on roof
AGM battery
Swap out compartment locks
Interior 30A surge protector
Grab bar on screen door
Door stops
Change all bulbs to LED
Bug screens on heater, WH, & fridge
Second fire extinguisher
Flashlights next to extinguishers
Fold out railing outside door
12v outlets in garage
AC and DC USB charging ports
Grocery bag holder for trash
Broom holder in garage

and just ordered an electric queen bed for garage.
and that's just since buying it in January. I gotta stop...

Talking

Regardless of the flavor may I suggest you pick out a one ton.

This will save you from the "upgrade fever" for a little while.

Bigger trailer.
Bigger truck.
bigger trailer.
bigger truck...........

Tis a vicious cycle!

I guess I need to figure out how to just tow my house. It would prolly be easier...and cheaper in the long run....but it wouldn't be camping.

I started the "quest" hunting for a clean FEMA trailer.

Funny. I was fantasizing about a new truck cause I am only a couple thousand from max tow...if I upgrade I will surely go over that. Right now I think it's like 12,500....trailer is 10k gross now...not a lot of growing room. I really don't see a heavier trailer cause kids will prolly be gone when we "use up" this trailer.

wish I had this advise 4 years ago. Upgraded truck and trailer twice from our original set up. New 1 ton diesel last year to get the 5th wheel we should have got in the first place.

What you're suffering from is known in the boating community as "two-foot-itis". It hits every couple of seasons when you say to DW "You know, a rig 2 feet longer would be so much better". You won't be completely cured until you have a 45' tag-axle DP, maybe towing a Cadillac.

It is possible to get psychiatric help for this! Were' solving the problem by giving up the RV lifestyle, as we can't afford it any longer. (The rig in my sig is for sale, probably by a good local consignment dealer).

The first RV show is Oct 17 th. We love our unit but are looking like everyone. I think we are good for a few years unless something really jumps out. But I need new TV first so...the cycle continues!

There is no cure.
What you need is a "totally stock fiver" like Old Coot has!
