Thoughts on X-Chock

We recently moved from a Coleman Utah to a Micro Lite 25DS. Even with the stabilizers firmly down and the wheels chocked with the little yellow chocks we still have quite a bit of movement. I've been eyeing the X-Chocks and wondering if they reduce the amount of movement in the trailer.

Your thoughts and recommendations are appreciated.

They're under $100

They work great. They greatly reduce the forward/backward movement. It doesn't take much of an imagination on why this is helpful if you have kids sleeping in the trailer. Conventional chocks are a must, but I also use the X chocks.

i believe they do stop some movement, but if you really want to stop trailer movement, look at the JT StrongArms or the BAL SteadyFast systems

Agree with the above.. they help but those other systems that stabilize/reinforce the Jack's work better.

On my TT I found the best of both worlds was ..... use both. X-Chocks to take out play at the tires, JT Strong-arms to help re-enforce the stabilizers. Basically, X-Chocks for Pitch, JT Strongarms for Roll, and hopefully you don't have any Yaw to worry about.

We would never do without them. And you really only need one to stop the back and forth movement. The dealer actually told me that as I was all set to buy two.

The x-chocks seemed to reduce movement in our 25dks. We use one on each set of trailer wheels.

Another thing we did that seemed to help even more was to reduce the amount of extension needed on our four stabalizer jacks and our tongue jack. We did this by adding several pieces of cut 2x8's between the foot of each jack leg and the ground. We stopped using the large plastic lego style blocks under the tongue jack because they can get slippery and the foot of the tongue jack can slide off. Ask me how I know.

I had that using wood too so be careful.. It was fun (the wife didn't think so).

The x-chocks worked great on our 21' tt. I'd try that first before investing in heavier and more expensive solutions.

Before we got them 'one of us' was always yelling at 'the other one' because the hard drive in the computer would kick in and freeze everything when ' the other one ' walked from the front to the back of the trailer.

We use a pair of X-Chocks on our Avenger... it makes a noticeable difference.

Also, after a few hours (the next morning after setting up...) I've noticed that re-tightening the scissor jacks makes a big difference too... they settle quite a bit it seems.

+1. I bought two and the second was unnecessary. I didn’t want to spend a ton of money and have had good luck with the one X chock and a set of four UltraFab stackable stabilizer jacks ($38 eTrailer). But they do have a 6000lb weight limit. Since that is each one individually most TT’s should be fine.

I highly recommend the X chocks. Mine came as a set of 2 and I use both of them. They really make a big difference, the back and forth movement that we used to get is gone. Just be aware that these are to be used for stabilization only. You still need to use regular wheel chocks to keep the trailer from rolling away on a sloped parking spot.
